2020 GT vert. PP1, 401A, AE, 6spd, ESS G2/G3
To all of you boosted drivers.

I have a 20 GT vert with a G2 ESS on 93.
I'd like to upgrade or eliminate my cats. Given I enjoy the sound my car has now wondering what you all suggest? I have a Steeda H pipe and Active Exhaust.
I've heard others say eliminating the cats all together doesn't sound good.
Considering performance cats.
I don't have LT headers nor am I convinced I need them as I'm happy with the performance now.
The car is my summer cruiser and I don't track it.

Are there options allowing you to keep the stock manifolds? You'd have to remove cut and weld in the new cats. Longtubes would be your best bet and then you have easy access to the cats

I do not have any direct experience, but I have read multiple comments of incorporating GT500 cats.
May be wrong, but you would have to do GT500 manifolds since the driver (passenger?) side cat is attached. Would likely be same cost as doing headers with no cats.

OP, if you are worried about cooking cats, then just do cat deletes. There are a few brands still selling them. If that is too loud, throw in some vibrant resonators and it may tone it down. I wouldn't waste your money on "hi-flow cats".

Your best bet is to just do the delete pipes up the the factory headers and have a set of aftermarket high flowing cats welded on. Going the long tube header route will make the car much louder.

I am/was running long tubes into a magnaflow resonator, no cats and side pipes. Believe me, it's LOUD, but as for it not sounding good? That's in the "ear of the beholder". There are almost as many opinions on what sounds good vs. what doesn't as there are opinions on what's the best oil to run.

Thinking more about this, we know that the Roush cars fails cats but who’s heard of Roush trucks failing cats? The Roush trucks run way more overlap at wot and way richer. In fact, they set them up to enter cat protect as soon as you go wot, which sends it to .68 lambda.

You could do the 2M fabrication cat delete pipes, and then cut in some 3" universal cats (Gesi 300 or 400 cell) with slip or butt joints. That way you would still have your OEM manifolds, and could easily remove/inspect your cats. You do have to cut the drivers side cat off, and weld the flange onto the pipe though.

If your active exhaust is OEM, you can have your tuner change the position of the flaps for each drive mode, to suite your taste. Like many others, once I installed Long tubes, my exhaust was too loud for my old ass (even with the OEM resonator and OEM active cat back). I was considering adding resonators, but then decided to have Wengerd adjust the valve positions. Quiet is still closed, normal is 25%, Sport is 40%, Track is wide open. All settings go to full open when WOT.

Sorry but there are no “good” answers here.

I could try to make you a custom tune that prioritizes cat protection over performance if you want.
