Most people not noticing is not an excuse, IMO.

Build issues...

No manufacturer pulls EVERY item off the conveyor belt to check for quality control. They pull a random sample with enough to satisfy statistical testing. I have to assume that the members of this Forum are a random sample of 2015 owners. (Unless this Forum has been infiltrated by large numbers of pro-Camaro owners, etc.).
If 50% is a valid percentage of quality control problem vehicles that have been delivered to Forum members, there is statistically a major problem with quality control at Flat Rock.

Exactly! I'm sure that more than 50% of 2015 Mustangs have these issues based on going to 2 dealerships and seeing every 2015 Mustang on their lots with major panel issues. The dealerships actually said most people buying off their lots don't notice the panels. Total B.S..

Buyers not paying attention about QC problems.

I have been waiting for my convertible for three months. I have spent enough time at my dealership, that I believe they are getting tired of seeing me. But with a $45K car coming, they just stay quiet.
More than once, I have checked out a new Mustang which had obvious QC problems: panels, window alignment, trunk alignment, hoods that didn't latch correctly or that are higher on one side than the other, etc.
People come in and 'love' the car...most just want to hear the V8 exhaust. Eventually they sign for the car and drive away with smiles on their faces.
One time, my Mustang salesman came up to me after a sale, and said "hope they don't come back too often, bitching about what they should have caught before they bought". It's up to the new buyer to catch problems and demand a fix. They don't 'fix it' if the new owner doesn't notice or care. He owns three classic Ponies and knows that I am going over the car before I pay for it.

Has anyone tried to fix this issue themselves? This is where the rear bumper fascia attaches to the rear quarter panel at the driver's side tail light.

I wonder if the seam can be reached from under the vehicle or by removing the tail light and/or trunk trim panels? Seems like it could be fixed by moving the fascia further outward to line up better with the quarter panel.

The passenger side could use some fine tuning as well in the same area, but it's not nearly as noticeable.
You can fix the attachment from the quarter panel to the bumper, but you can't align the panel at the lights. It is designed to be aligned on the inside, next to the light housing. The CAD drawing and the engineering tolerances show that the bumper is designed narrower than the quarter panel, so there should be a step on the outside of the light housing.

Have no idea why they did that, unless two different people worked on the quarter panel to bumper translation. You can make it align with the outside, but then the light housing looks goofy the way it fits because the inside won't line-up now.

Same goes for the doors and some other areas, where the tolerances show the door to be inset at the front and out at the rear. Maybe for Aero, or water intrusion, while driving, but it really makes no sense to have the crease lines the way they are and then design it to not line-up.

I'm here, JoeySD. Are you having an issue with your Pony's alignment? Send me a PM; I'll check out the situation.

There have been over 40k cars sold and about 800 owners on this forum and 50% of those forum members have reported issues. That is a tiny % of issues in the grand scheme of things.

Not downplaying their issues at all as they do need to be fixed. My car is perfect for example. I just truly believe, as the numbers above show, these are isolated QC issues.
If the number really is 50% of forum members having body panel alignment issues I would actually draw the opposite conclusion - that Ford has a significant issue with QC. 800 cars is a large enough sample size that I would assume it'd be fairly representative of the general population.

The one factor I'm wondering about is whether the majority of these issues are being reported on early build cars. As this is an enthusiast forum, I'm guessing there would be a larger proportion of owners that pre-ordered or bought cars as soon as they arrived on the lots.

I've been looking at a GT for a while but all these stories are making me wonder if I should wait until 2016 and see if these issues are still popping up. The 6g Mustang does seem to have a lot more complicated curves and body lines than anything else I've seen in the Ford lineup so I'm hoping this is just a matter of Ford still ironing out the kinks in building something they've never done before.

That said, it's inexcusable for Ford to let these cars leave the factor, much less not ensuring the issues are resolved in a timely fashion as soon as they've been discovered by their customers.

Sounds like "fuzzy numbers" to me. Where do the numbers 800 owners on this forum and 50% of those forum members come from?

They come from a poll that was conducted on this site where the forum members voted.

The 800 owners was complied by Jarstang on a different owners thread. No fuzziness here.

The numbers for general public will be much much lower. Most people here wouldn't have noticed had they not been tipped off by other members here.

Got mine back yesterday. Body alignment is much better now. However they scratched a few spots and messed up my tint on the passenger door, bad enough where it has to be replaced. If its not one thing its another. Luckily the guy who did my tint said he would replace it under warranty and the person who details my car took to small scratches out.

Did some searching, and I see the owner registry with about 800 owners. I'd have to look harder, or you could embed the link, where the poll shows 400 of those owners have issues. I used the term "fuzzy" because I highly doubt all 800 of those owners voted on whatever poll you are referring to.

Until now, only 165 members voted because it isn't made sticky and get always lost. I do not know who said that 400 members have issues. I am one who got a JOB2 Mustang with a couple issues. Most of the "die hard" fanboys wouldn't even care about a crooked trunk lid. Hell - some have different leather on the doors and thing it is cool! These guys wouldn't even vote fair IMHO.

I actually was surprised that around 80 mentioned to have issues. And I think that's where the 50% did come from.

I got my hood and trunk aligned properly by the body shop. The trunk now closes easily instead of having to force it down. It wasn't that bad to begin with but now it's great. I have the infamous uneven glass though and I'm leaving that because it's open heart surgery to fix.

Just leaves me with squeaks and rattles to deal with.

Good luck everyone with your body alignment, seems like minor issues can be fixed.
