Yeah if the tolerances were off to that small of a small degree I wouldn't care at all, but for people with cars like mine that have issues you can plainly see from a few feet away, not cool. And it's not funny or edgy to trivialize it with this "micrometer" bullshit.

My Civic had perfect fitment. My last car had better fitment around the hood/headlight after having them crunched by an idiot and being rebuilt.

It should be vocalized by people experiencing the issue, and Ford should at least publicly acknowledge on some small scale that this is a problem. I hope I don't have any headaches when I take my car in on the 31st to get all of this looked at.

Well said, i would like to see ford correct this problem because i do not believe it is a dealer fix, and that the problem stems deeper than that as in a manufacturer buyback or replacement.

It really is a bummer saving up for my dream car, then waiting almost a year since its inception, then having to wait over a horrible quality control job, IMO these cars should have never left the factory.

I had a 2004 GT, I'm not nitpicking, but the panels were perfectly aligned which is the reason i am heated because I've been waiting since dec 2013 for this baby to come out.

Now a micrometer gap is absolutely perfect because the human eye would never pick up something like that, however we are talking MILLImeters here,BIG difference.
Not "micrometer" the unit of measurement; "micrometer" the tool:

And if the panel gap flaws aren't off by enough that you can't see them, say, during a ten-second glance from ten feet away from the car, then they're really not a big deal.

How bad are these panel gaps that you're talking about? Because I've seen some people on here complaining about some SERIOUSLY trivial alignment issues, for example, another thread on here, somebody posted this as a problem they expected their dealer to fix:

WKv6Ta2.webp

Now, this is something that you literally cannot notice unless you get right up on the car and start looking specifically for flaws. This would NEVER be noticeable to to somebody who walks by your car and looks at to say "hey, nice car!" This is the type of thing where I think some people are... getting a bit too overanalytical of things. Like... relax. There are other problems people have had that are serious problems that need to be fixed, but minor body panel alignment issues where things are off by imperceptible amounts aren't among them.

They were not job2. It is always like that. stock orders are o/t2 and special orders are o/t1.
Not following.

My DORA clearly stated Job 2. This was discussed many times on the forum as well. Maybe I am missing something?

There were a good bit of people that had custom orders like I did that went in as a dealer stock order. My dealer does not submit customer orders as dealer stock, which I am glad he didn't. Mine went in as a retail order.

Lets put it this way the first person who noticed it was my father (who is 64), i was too in awe as i was seeing the car for the first time in person after seeing months of pictures lol.

I should have snapped some pics, its quite noticeable within a few feet away once you see it. An average person on the street would probably not notice it at first glance, however it does not make this acceptable.

I think it would be great to get a thread started with build dates/body issues to see if there is any correlation with say a first, second or third month production vehicle.

I must be wrong holding Ford up to the same standard as Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, and every other OEM I have familiarity with by expecting uniform panel fitment.

Guess I can always lower my expectations and just accept it.

Or maybe... maybe I can expect a normal standard of quality on a product that I dropped 40+ large on. No, that's out of the question...

People think you are nuts to complain because they dropped 40k too.
Coolaid affect.
My imports have NEVER needed panel adjustments from the factory.
Mazda, Toyota, Subaru.
Good thing I have tools. But in truth I don't think my drivers side door will ever be right.
IT WILL be like selling a car that was in an accident when the time comes.
