Body panel alignment issue

Has anyone else noticed this?

Im looking to order a 15 CO PP GT soon and I've been to a couple of dealerships in my region and every GT that I've looked at have to some degree an alignment issue with either the hood and front quarter panels or the trunk lid and rear quarter panels.

I found it to be quite noticeable varying by a few MM. For example the hood and front quarter panel gap: (Starting from the grill towards the windshield) The gap towards the front of the car is about ~3mm and as you look more towards the back its anywhere from ~5-6mm. It doesn't seem like much but it is a clear difference if you really take a look at it.

I had a 2004 GT and the body panels were perfectly aligned...

What do you do if you get in an accident and the panels need to be replaced? How would they align then?

Im hoping this is a first batch production problem because to be honest it is really not acceptable, maybe from a $6k car made in china.

Is this a problem that ford has begun to address? Because if it was 1 or 2 cars that i saw it wouldn't be an issue but i went to 4 Fords in my vicinity and they all had this.

Have fun with this man. The gaps running along both sides of my hood aren't uniform either, plus the height where they meet above the headlights is off too. Check your rear window glass to see if it's level. And the trunk panels. And the door panels.

Also check to see if it has four wheels and an engine, because you never know.

But in all seriousness, I'm finding something new every day, like a tiny dent/warp on the top surface of my passenger side hip. And slight paint deformations at panel edges.

Yup many have, and many have got the cars repaired and few got brand new too. It just varies from dealer to dealer and extent.

This is the one thing I'm monitoring as I contemplate my own order in a few months, or I should say all things that are indicators of overall quality. Cost, performance specs, tech, etc.-- all of these considerations become irrelevant if the basic package suffers from poor build quality. It'll break my heart not to order a Mustang and look elsewhere when the time comes.

I am in the exact same boat that you are in

I believe this issue stems from their stamping process at the plant, correct me if I'm wrong

If body panels being a couple of millimeters out of true is enough to keep you from ordering a car, you shouldn't be shopping for a Mustang. Try a Bentley. Or a Pagani.

I had a 2004 GT, I'm not nitpicking, but the panels were perfectly aligned which is the reason i am heated because I've been waiting since dec 2013 for this baby to come out.

Now a micrometer gap is absolutely perfect because the human eye would never pick up something like that, however we are talking MILLImeters here,BIG difference.

Dealer orders were Job 1. Retail orders were Job 2. No differences between cars besides some fine tuning on the assembly lines/processes.

They were not job2. It is always like that. stock orders are o/t2 and special orders are o/t1.
