All Ford Modular V8's are interference engines.
Nope. The Coyote is "free wheeling." It may bind up when you're trying to hand crank it, but that's only if you timed it wrong and are fighting lots of cam springs at once. The valves don't lift enough to touch the pistons.

If you look at how tall the dome is above the deck, it’s very hard to imagine that it wouldn’t interfere with the valves if the cam stops. Iirc lift is something like .550. I bet what they meant is that the phasers have hard limits such that they can’t move the cams into interference if the phaser stops working.

Similar situation. Doing a 5.2 build with a YSIB, plan on overspinning. Street car as well, I'll run it some though. I did ported heads, intake, valves, springs, etc. I spoke with Lund about it, said they had a car in the 7s on stock cams. I probably am leaving some on the table with the cams, where I have maximized almost everywhere else. Definitely areas where there was little return. My thoughts with the cams was, the car is a street car and i want to keep street manners. Maybe this is carry over from pushrod cars (ad in i may be wrong), but I remember with my past cars that usually affected drivability the most. Everything is a comprises, that and no cage is where I drew the line. If you need more power nitrous is cheap, helps iats, and does not affect street manners.

I agree with Stephen. They are worth 40-50whp and for max effort cars. Plus it's odd to have a cammed car that idles like a stock car lol

I'm running L&M cams on my 12 GT with phasers. It idles and drives like a stock car. In your case I'd go with a set of cams since it's a max effort build.

Yes, I am maxed out. Stage 2 P1X making 17lbs. Im on a 3.55 and it is over spinning from 7600 till redline at 8100. So tell me if this is stupid. Keep in mind the car will never see the track and im just trying to build a bad*** street car. That being said, i was thinking about having procharger turn my P1X into a D1X. instead of doing an F1A. I know the F1A will support way more power but i understand that i will most definitely be sacrificing a decent amount of low and mid range. I didnt know if that concept along with the addition of cams would assist in making more power more efficiently. Also, what else is involved in doing cams? Does anyother head work need to be done? I would have to assume i would need a tune?
What sizes is your crank and head unit pulley?

I was in the same boat at one time. Bought the cams and finally came to the conclusion it was more worth it for me to upgrade my P1X to D1X for just a little more than the cost of the cams. So a little more bang for the buck :)

So how do you like the d1x over the p1x comparing them side by side?

Only driven it a couple times weather is still iffy. Feels pretty good. Won’t know outcome until I get it back on the dyno for comparison. Made 810 on Mustang dyno at 17 psi with P1X.

For reference I have the comp Stg 2 blower cams. I don’t have a before and after reference but I can say that they work…well!
