Hi
Wanna change the stock chrome lug nuts on my PP black wheels.

And there is question.
Because I Saw posts with black gorillas but notching about orginal ford black ones.
Is There anyone who use them ? They are better over gorillas? Price is high but as they describe PVD coated. But price nearly 50$ us is a bit high over gorillas where you can get them for around 65 $ for 4 wheels.
Any input ?

I'd go with Gorilla (like in my pic).
they matched very well with the black wheel.
No sense in paying more for essentially the same thing.

when you guys swap out the OEM ones for these do you just "hand tighten" them down? i don't have a torque wrench that i can use, but want to change mine. much thanks.

It's worth the money to buy one from harbor freight for $20 and do it right. The lugs need to be torqued to 150lb/ft

Buy a torque wrench. I don't use anything other than a breaker bar and torque wrench to deal with my lugs.

I bought the Gorilla Locking system for my PP wheels. Had them on for a few months now and I love them. Part #96643BDX

It helps to have a Battery powered driver to spin the lug nuts.

0. Break each lug nut with a braker bar while the tires are on the ground, but don't loosen more than a quarter or half turn.

1. Put on the parking brake and put car into gear or P. Jack up one side of the car from the middle, getting front and rear wheels off the ground. Jack stands aren't a bad idea here. Jacking rails help here because you don't want to crush the pinch weld.. I put the jack on a foot and a half of 2x4 along the inboard edge of the pinch weld. It's a poor man's jacking rail, spreads the load.

2. Remove lug nuts, replace with new wheels, and tighten as much as you can before the wheels spin off the ground. An impact driver set on low is helpful here.

3. Lower car after tightening lugs.

4. Jack up and do the other side

5. Now lower the car and torque the lugs to 150 ft lbs with your torque wrench.

6. Drive the car around the block, and re verify all torques ( really just a few feet forwards and back seems to do the trick)

7. Reprogram TPMS if you need to.

Just get a 21mm deep impact socket and put electrical tape around the outside to protect the paint from any contact the socket makes with the wheel.
