From the Owner's Manual for 2015 and 2016.

In both 2015 and 2016 OMs, they show the MT-82 fill capacity as:

2.7 qt (2.6 L), with a flag note saying "Approximate dry fill capacity. Actual amount may vary during fluid changes."

Here are the snip-its from the OMs. First one is for 2015, second one for 2016. Going by the level below the fill hole is what I'd be shooting for, so a 'dipstick' is the way to go IMO.

They do however say in the 2016 OM that right up to the bottom of the hole (0 mm) is OK. So just fill until it just starts to dribble out the hole.

My owners manual has this on page 221 and says this for all manual transmissions:

3. The correct fluid fill level is 0.0–0.1 in
(0–3 mm) below the bottom edge of
the filler hole.
So basically fill it as far as it can go.

So above assumes car is level - mine was slightly not level (front on ramps, rear on jackstands but not quite the height of the ramps) and after taking filler plug out, fluid was leaking a little bit. So it fill it with the bottom edge or just slightly below it, it is somewhat important to have it level.

Not to beat a dead horse :repost: but it seems Ford can not decide where they want the level. Our kit puts you really close to the Dry Fill of 2.6L. The car needs to be level front to back and left to right. Ford Service Techs are using the information in the Service Manual, not the Owners Manual. The serivce manual gives a different fill level than the owners manual(s), all versions :)

Fill it with 2.6L, or just below the fill hole. You will be fine. Keep in mind that if the car is lower on the drivers side than the passenger side you will be able to overfill it. Level is important.

Hopefully this is clear to everyone :D

Obviously fluid level is important but is a slight over filling life or death to a transmission?

It will find its way out the vent, if the vent is plugged it will migrate out the seals/sealing surfaces of the case. It would likely need to be grossly overfilled I imagine. It is essentially a sealed box, the vent allows for the pressure release vs temperture. Fluid expands but is not compressible

Gonna buy the kit from you guys. :)

For the rear-end do I need to add any friction modifier or anything or is just the fluid the kit comes with all that is required?

Just some quick feedback. I ordered the combo kit on a Wednesday and had it Saturday! After a run to town today to warm up the fluids I swapped both the trans and diff fluids. Car has 1,670 miles atthis point. I was very skeptical about the trans shifting better after replacing with this, but I have to say, there is a very noticable change in the feel of shifting thru the gears. A very nice change, feels like the synchos are gliding into place vs clicking into place. So now my trans and diff are all set for the foreseeable future... BTW, only a very minor bit of gunk on the diff drain plug, was expecting more from all the posts I have read.
Thnaks optimum for the nice kit andquick shipping!

Great post!

I agree, i was skeptical on the shifting improvement, too. But boy, as you said, it is truly a night and day difference.

My drain plug was about 95% clean, too. No sign of gunk either. My car had 10k miles on it. 4 drag strip passes and some corner carving/mountain runs.

Coming right from Optimum Performance from this thread.

We also stocked up on cases the Ultra-Guard LS for our Rear Axle kits. These are compatible with all differentials in the S550 Mustang. It has all the additives for the Traction-Lok™ Limited Slip and TORSEN™ Differential. No additional additives required when you change it. The differentials run pretty warm in these cars and get hot when used in a road course environment. We supply a 75W-90 that is formulated for extreme heat and load. If you haven’t changed your rear axle oil yet you may be surprised by how bad it looks when you drain it for the first time.

You can purchase all our products from our WEBSITE we have added several more new products, and have some new product announcements coming soon!

Details of our BG Products can also be found on our M6G BG Products Page HERE

Thank you for the continued support.

Andrew, yes we only stock the rear axle lube with the additive included for the clutch type differentials. It will work in all on them. I see your order made it through Customs! :headbang:

well, i think this does get rid of some of the notchy shifting of the MT82, i had forgot what i'd even done to the car since there was no physical change in looks, was driving home and thought "damn this feels good".

thanks for the great product and detailed directions(these are important for people like me lol), i like it a lot so far:cheers:
