This piqued my interest, but when I looked it up, apparently it won't fit 18-23 cars without some sort of compromising on parts? NVH weight?
Not at all, fits 18-23 just fine, mine is a '21. You just need to get 2 of the 3 trans mount bolts as the outer 2 are too long once you ditch the bushing. Levittown ford had them for $5.

Barton Hybrid 3 here as well. It's a great shifter. I have had both Barton and MGW on other cars. You can't go wrong with either. Much improved over stock.

I think its more important to decide body vs trans mounted, the popular shifters are all great

I'm carefully reading threads like these as I consider future mods for the car... I'm trying to go slow, heh. I actually don't hate the stock shifter, but I also granny shift, because the ONLY manual I've ever owned that could be pounded into gear was a T56 with factory Hurst shifter that I had in a 2000 Z28 I bought brand new (yes, factory Hurst shifter). Basically a Viper transmission with a lot less torque input, so it was bullet proof.
