So that being said would you buy a brand new 40,000 dollar car that the factory put no power train warranty on? Power windows, Ac, other little stuff like that'll be warrantied but nothing power train wise. Can you honestly say you'd buy it?
Lots of us did when we started modding immediately. Pay to play and all that... All up to individual owners. Grimace is right, though. Most dealers will not just void your warranty immediately when a car comes in for warranty work on the powertrain. YMMV.

Had my Steeda CAI installed now for about a month and I love it. I think it also gives a deeper tone to the motor but that just may be me.
David & I are always here to help ... just the added benefit of going with Steeda!!

Best Regards,

TJ

Hope I can ask this here instead of making a new topic.

CAI makes the car sound a little better right? how does that work...doesn't it just blow cold air to the engine? why would that make the car sound better. and what kind of sound is it...not finding many good clips on YT

Sorry not to jack this thread at all. I was going to ask this same question Because I just ordered a 2015 GT.

The reason why I was going to ask was because in NY we are using a new Inspection company called Opus. They can detected tunes in cars and trucks with OBD2. I already had a problem last year with my 2000 Ford SVT lightning. The truck has all the emission stuff still on it. I even have high flow cats on. It took me 3 months to figure out how to get the truck to pass. I was getting a no Communication with the OBD2 inspection equipment. It was all in my tune because all the sensors were turned off. I was able to use a loop hole last year to get the truck to pass. But that has since been closed. I have another tune that turns everything on and just loaded it up a few weeks ago and none of my emission sensors have ready yet and have put on a few hundred miles on the truck so far. My inspection is up in July so I am hoping these sensors will ready by then.

Would like to know if any of the tuners have figured anyway around this issue. This problem has happened to a bunch of people I know

OBD Tamper Terminator™ the latest in fraud detection

Opus Inspection has obtained a provisional patent for the OBD Tamper Terminator™, the latest innovation for fraud detection that for the first time in the I/M industry focuses on fraud caused by motorists.
Since the deployment of Onboard Diagnostic (OBD) systems on vehicles in 1996, enterprising performance enthusiasts have been looking for ways to “improve” performance of their vehicles. One way to achieve a performance improvement is by removing the catalytic converter. In addition to catalyst removal, an oxygen sensor simulator is typically installed to send a false signal to the electronic control unit (ECU) that is within the expected range, which avoids having the MIL illuminate.
Another way to achieve performance improvement is by installing performance chips in a vehicle’s ECU in order to pass an emission inspection. This vehicle tampering method uses the software contained in the performance chips to permanently set OBD test results therby achieving a passing emission inspection result.
Any such tampering with emission control devices is considered a federal offense.
For the first time in the I/M industry, Opus Inspection is now addressing this issue head-on. We are authorized by U.S. EPA to conduct research using tampered vehicles and establish its positive impact on I/M programs and applicability with the MOVES model as it relates to emissions benefit credits.
Implementing this reliable and easily deployed method for detecting OBD tampering provides enforcement agencies with a powerful way to identify such fraud and, as a result, increase emission reduction benefits. The full extent of performance ECU and catalyst tampering is not known today. Anecdotal information and the proliferation of websites selling parts and providing information on this type of tampering indicate that it is done by a significant number of motorists, in particular among certain target groups.
The OBD Tamper Terminator is a system that works by interrogating the vehicle’s ECU with our patent-pending method. Based on analysis of the ECU interrogation, the system can distinguish vehicles that have been tampered from those that have

I doubt you'd lose your entire power train warranty with a tune. Yes, I agree, if you have engine related issues and a tune, you could be sol. However, if my tranny stops going into 3rd or my rear diff starts making noise, I suspect you'd be okay.

Regardless, you are asking the wrong question. In the context of this discussion, you can't just take away the warranty and not offer anything in return. However, what if you had the choice between buying a mustang as it is today with an engine warranty or a car with no engine warranty, but:

1. The car was discounted, say $1300 dollars (or whatever a realistic number would be). Don't you think all those guys who supercharged right off the bat or those building a track car would jump all over that?

2. The car is the same price but comes with cai and headers and a more aggressive (but still safe) tune - yielding, say, an additional 45ish (or again, whatever the realistic number is) crank hp. I bet there are a lot of guys who would go for that too, especially if it proved out the aftermarket couldn't improve much on the Ford tune. Or maybe not, cause at least with an aftermarket tune you can remove it and still try you luck with the warranty claim - if you were so inclined. But you get the idea.

I'm sorry this is my first post but it was very relevant.

We have something in the works :) Out flows any other system out there with or without their restrictors (we do not use one). No flash needed but the included maf is programmable so if you eventually need more maf range, you just re-flash the maf sensor.

Might want to start your own thread (for more exposure) and provide more info if you've got it. We like pictures. :)

I got an Airaid Modular Intake Tube along with a K&N air filter. Overall, I am pleased with the setup. Seems like better throttle response and more air flow at WOT (sounds like it). Plus it was 1/2 the cost of a CAI. Now I am intrigued by the CAI from PMAS. Might have to try one to see how it performs.
