How is your transmission now? What problems does it have?FurdfN2108,
Really well with one exception. I still had an annoying 5 - 6 mini flare a low rpm (2,000 - 2,500). Not consistent, but still there.
Since I had made so many trans tune adjustments, I re-flashed the TCM with the OEM programming and started from scratch and built a new program using the HP Tuners guidelines.
This nearly fixed the 5 - 6 low speed flare, but still there. Then I started experimenting with Torque Management [TM] (was using shift timing and pressure before), and low and behold, I found the recipe.
As you reduce the TM numbers in the HP Tuners software, the ignition timing being applied is reduced. I was doing the opposite, which was wrong.
I nearly had it perfect, then I modified the "Oncoming Ramp Inertia" by reducing this numerically. This dialed in the 5 - 6 shift perfectly in the 2K - 2.5K range.
So to answer to your question, the 10R can be a real challenge to tune, but once dialed in, it's friggen' awesome. The trans hits hard in Sport or Sport+ and on boost, it's just fantastic. No issues to speak of all. I love it now.
It's working to near perfection all the way around. If it came this way from Ford, all the gripes would probably be non-existent.
What would you do differently?
Thank you.
