Beadlock/ Tire info

Figured I’d have more luck here than the wheel/tire thread. Looking to upgrade wheels and tires since I installed the ProCharger but, have a couple questions. How legal are beadlocks on the street? I know with off road vehicles in the past, beadlocks where rarely street legal or considered safe for everyday driving. Car is not my daily but, I do drive it a lot on the weekends. Looking to put Toyo 888 and was curious how those would work with the beadlocks. Looking at the forgestar F14 for reference. Anybody running these on the street? Just curious as to which front to run as I don’t really want skinnies. Plan on taking it for road trips every now and then and would rather have a wider tire up front. Thanks for any info.

17x9.5 or 17x10 rear 19x? On the front. Want to keep the tire close to the factory pp1 wheel and tire combo. The car is lowering and they rear ticks a little already. Don’t want any rubbing.

You really don't need Blocks for the street. You will never get enough traction to rotate the tire on the wheel.

Agreed on not needing them in the street. Not sure how hard any R888 is gonna hook either.

I can see this car turning into a street/track car real quick. Grew up with fox bodies and loved moding those cars. Bought this just to get back in that mustang feel. Now it’s ProCharger and I’m already looking to go faster, lol. Figured I’d just get the beadlocks now as I’m sure I’d be buying them in the future

In that case, I'd have a street set of wheels, whatever looks nice, in a 19 and buy a drag set up for the track in a 17 and put skinnies and drag radials on the those. Personally I don't like driving drag radials on the street. They handle crap and R888 are not going to hold at the track

To answer your question, I have heard the f14 beadlocks are a very good value for the money. I know a couple of guys who wore the D5 on the street and it worked fine

Nice, seen a few packages online it really is only a couple hundred more for the beadlocks. Thought they looked a little better as well. Just want to make sure everything is going to work together. The nitto 555 any better than the toyo? Don’t plan to drive in the rain but, in south Florida the weather can change by the minute

Not as familiar with the nitto. Generally you have to give up one for the other. The better the straight line traction, the worse lateral traction. Str line trac likes a soft sidewall, cornering, stiff sidewall. Anything over 700 wheel and you need a dedicated drag to tire. Ie mickey, hoosier, m&h etc.

Thanks for the info. I’m not 100% on a tire yet but, definitely going with the forgestars. Not sure how much power I’m pushing.m as it hasn’t seen the dyno. 2019 pp1 with ProCharger stage 2 on the canned tune. Will probably go with with a PBD tune shortly though.

You're most likely wasting money on beadlocks. They really only apply to hard launchs or cars making a lot of power and hooking. I would look at RC comps it billet specialties none beadlock wheels. Lighter and similarly priced.

Nitto is a great choice for a street tire in SoFla but not gonna hook hard enough to require a beadlock.

The 555r2 ya. Streetable DR. Can hook power but handle dd and rain.

Just run whatever you want, if you are high hp dont run street tires unless you can handle your urges.. Beadlocks are for digs but man do they look baddass so why not ?
