I have a continuous problem of battery corrosion on my '18 GT. At about 9500 miles it started on the positive terminal, I could clean it and put the terminal washers on it, and about 2 weeks later it's back. It got so bad that the dealership warrantied a new battery. Now its back to doing the same thing.....I cleaned both terminals again yesterday and applied NOCO brand washers and their brand spray to the battery. Is this a normal thing on these cars?. My wife's 18 Escape has 23K on it and the terminals look like new....

Sounds like it stems from battery leakage ... see links. I don't think I've ever had a vehicle for decades that has ever showed battery terminal corrosion. Sounds like the new battery isn't that good. I'm assuming it's a Motorcraft since the dealer replaced the battery under warranty - ?

The battery is a Motorcraft…. I as well don't recall a vehicle being like this...

when I bought my 16 when it was about a year and a half old, the terminals had zero corrosion. But I lifted them and installed the washers and sprayed them with corrosion spray. The car is now about 3 1/2 years old, has 17 k miles on it, and still no corrosion on mine. Original battery. So they are not all like yours. Sorry you are dealing with it.

My 2012 had some corrosion on the positive terminal at low mileage as well. I cleaned it off and about 5k later, it was back and worse than before. I cleaned it again but about a month later I smelled eggs. I popped the hood and found the terminal post was sticking out about 3/4 inch higher than it was supposed to. The battery was exploding in ultra slow motion. I drove it to the dealer and they swapped it out claiming that the factory installed Motorcraft batteries are of lesser quality than the dealer acquired units. No issues after that though.

It really baffles me .....I've never owned a vehicle that did this. My wife's 18 Escape battery looks like new, My '14 and '10 Mustangs were all fine.....Even my old Fox doesn't do it.

The only thing I can think of that would cause continued and excessive electrolysis (besides any leakage) is the composition of the battery posts vs the composition of the actual battery cable ends (different metal types). This is outlined in the 2nd link provided by GT Pony.
