FWIW, here is a picture of my Ecoboost Premium with PP on its winter tire & wheels.
There are two types of winter tires studless and studdable. The studdable tires whether you install studs have a more agressive tread that is more suited for deep snow but give up dry road performance. I have Dunlap Winter Maxx on the Mustang which are a studless design. Even so they worked very well in the fore mentioned Boston winter with snow mode.
