I'm looking at two cars currently which couldn't be further from each other on the spectrum. One is a base with PP and the other is a Premium w/ 50th Ann.

I'm currently leaning on the Base with PP but I live in Toronto, Canada and I seriously need the heated mirrors having lived with cars without, I can tell you it is a pain in the butt to scrap snow/ice off the mirrors in the morning.

How much does it cost to have heated elements installed on a base mirror?

I can live with the spartan interior and do upgrades as time goes on, but a big connern for this car being a daily driver will be safety stuff like heated mirrors.

Am I missing anything else on the 300A package?

The only way I'd get the base model is if A: That's all my budget allowed or B: I was planning on racing the car extensively and would wind up changing all the stock parts to high performance parts and I was looking to save weight.

I see you're in Jersey. You guys get a fair amount of snow and disgusting weather stuff; do you daily your ride?

I could stretch my budget and do the premium but I haven't found one with the PP which is probably more than enough for me.

I"m just concerned the PP suspensions are too much for a winter commuter. Isn't it lower thant he regular Mustangs?

Still would love an answer on the heated mirrors. Found some information on an F150 board that say it's possible if the car is wired for it. Not sure how that relates to the Mustang S550. Would hate to learn that I need to replace the entire mirror assembly just to get heating element.

I was in somewhat the same situation you are in currently. I was planning to get the base + PP but ended going for a premium for the fact that it's more comfortable to be in, all things considered. After sitting in the base and the premium, I re-evaluated my options and went for the premium.

I'm never going to track the car; since Ford has done a complete re-design on the interior from the S197 generations, I'd like for my car to be as far from the S197 interior quality as possible.

My only regret is not getting the 068B (upgraded leather) package.

It depends what your plans are, based on what you said above....premium all the way.

I don't live anywhere near snow so the heated mirrors don't matter to me, but I'm glad I got a premium the leather and driving modes are great features, but the fat guy ball cooler a/c in the seats are more than worth it to me.

I have an Ecoboost with the Performance Package and drove all through the worst winter in recorded Boston history. A set of winter tires and snow mode and it handled it like a champ.

I concur. The winter driving definitely calls for the premium with the heated mirrors/seats/defrost etc; however, the ability to use the car in "Snow Mode" (as well as "Sport+ and so on) is also an important and very real performance enhancement. Whether you go with the Coyote or 2.3T makes little difference for the performance behavior in winter driving conditions. :headbang:

I'd love to answer the weather question but our stang is a fair weather pony. I can however say my s197 did very well for a sports car in bad weather with all season tires.

For a daily driver all-season Mustang, I would not recommend the GT-PP if only because of the staggered wheels and lack of spare.

But... if you're willing to live with the potential headache of a flat that cannot be remedied with the inflation kit in the trunk, the GT-PP is fine. I have heated rear view mirrors on my DD and I never use them in the winter. Heated seats, never had them, so don't miss them. My right foot is my 'snow mode'. Depends how much hardship you're willing to live with. I prefer the minimal aesthetic, everyone is different.

Just remember the PP comes with "summer only" tires, so you will want to change them out before the temps fall consistently below 35 degrees.

I made the mistake and waited with my Focus last year and let me tell you, summer tires do not work in even a small amount of wet snow.

You are not going to be running the tires that come on the PP in winter. No way. I imagine you could run a square setup with winter tires with the PP wheels? Better yet, get a separate set of wheels and tires for winter.

If you have ever turned on your rear window defrost, you have used the side mirror defrost. Though granted, depending on where you park, there may not be much need for it.

Thanks guys. Either way I go, winter tires are a must. I have used Winter dedicated for a few years and the difference is night and day. Have never had the summer wheels before or big brakes like Brembos so I'm really, really pining for the sporty add ons. To add your own sway bars, chassis stiffening goodies, big brake kits, it's going to cost more than what Ford charges for the PP. Easily.

On one hand, this is a powerful car and I don't want to end up in a ditch or worse, on another if I get the non-PP, I will regret it for sure because I have always wanted the cool looking Brembo callipers and doing them aftermarket is just so expensive. $2000 for 6 piston brakes. No way!

I'm going to see if I can score a PP Premium.
