In the past few months I've spent a decent amount of time reading through threads, surfing google, and watching youtube vids. But between owner vids and professional review vids...there just aren't that many that look at the Base GT for the S550. 95%+ are of the Premium trim and the Base trim vids that are out there are usually drive-alongs with owners that don't seem to know a hell of a lot about their car other than it goes fast and they are happy with it.

The one thing I keep look for is a vid showing how to use the electronic bells/whistles in the Base model, specifically the steering/traction adjustment and the radio/phone/voice activation items.

Coming from a 15 year old Subaru with a tape deck it's going to be quite a jump in tech once I get my hands on a GT (w/PP).

Has anyone seen any threads, websites, or vids that do a good job of exploring/explaining the electronics...basic as they might be compared to the Premium?

Thanks! :)

That would be great!!!

Like I said, just the specifics on how to work the voice activation/phone/radio and the steering/traction adjustments is what I have not seen anyone with a Base focus on.

Much appreciated!

Can't tell you how much I appreciate that!! Might seem simple but no one else, that I saw, went through it like that. It's always "there's the radio....and some buttons on the steering wheel...."...and that's it.

Seems like the voice activation works pretty well.

Now can you voice text (send a message) and/or voice dial the phone?

Also, subscribed! Anxious to see if you do any others.

Thanks again!! :clap2:

I can't figure out how to send a text. I downloaded my phone book from my phone so I can call anyone in it by hitting the button and saying "Call x" and the system will confirm and then dial the number. I can also say "dial 555-867-5309" and the system will confirm then dial the number.

I have a base, other than the tiny screen looking kinda lame and old school im happy with it. Digital climate control would be cool but a knob with blue and red works fine. The sound quality is pretty decent from the stero, I normally have my window cracked listening to my exhaust anyway. The hands free phone works great, I can hear clearly and never had anyone complain about not hearing me. So would it be nice to have a premium? yeah totally! But a base is fine to live with. I have recaros so I actually like the cloth seats better than the leather personally. Wish they would have the big screen as an option you could get with cloth.

Oh ok, that works fine for me. Again, going from the technology I've got now from 02 bumping almost 15 years ahead...this gives me everything I need when driving.

Thanks

My plan is to buy a 16 GT w/ PP in or after June.

However, I've done research on multiple forums simultaneously and have come to the conclusion that I actually prefer the base over the premium. Now what comes next isn't meant to piss on anyone's preference for the premium...just explaining my preference for the base.

For me, I feel the same...I'd rather have the cloth. But with the touch screen....no thanks for several reasons. Glare, outdated software in the future, repairs possibly needed, can't feel around and have to be parked, pulled over, or look away from the road to use it. Climate control is nice but the heated/cooled seats...just don't want/need them. About the only thing that would be nice is the toggles and modes pre-set. But from reading, although it's highly debated, it seems you can almost, if not exactly, simulate the modes with the steering/traction buttons on the base. Plus I can order and install aftermarket toggles from another forum member. Not interested in all the lighting/pony projection jazz. Lastly, navigation...I've already got a Garmin and a cell phone that won't charge me (an initial) fee to find a road map and guide me somewhere...so I'm good there. Again, the premium just isn't for me.

I want a super fun ride that is quick and fast.... I'm confident the Base GT w/PP will surpass that expectation!

It's because the base model guys are usually broke kids who just want the v8 or old guys who say "I don't want the bells and whistles and doo-hickeys'

I'm in my 30's so not a kid or and old guy...and not broke. I can afford the Premium...just don't want it.

Maybe I'm pre-maturely aging??

Get what you want and don't worry about the criticisms of others. I'm at the point in my life where I'll never own a vehicle in base trim. I want the bells and whistles. I've always been a techie and leather is so much easier to take care of and clean.

I guess I'm just the old guy who doesn't want all the bells, whistles and doo hickies in my GT. My base GT should arrive at the dealer in the next 10 days or so, and I can't wait to take it home. Like Emt1581, I can afford the premium, I just don't want it.

I have all the bells and whistles on my other car. Frankly, I just find them distracting. I'm getting the base because I want to enjoy driving it, not sit back and monitor systems!

We're all different, and looking for different things. that's what makes the world go 'round, neh?

My 2 previous Mustangs, 2008 GT and 2012 GT, were both Premiums with just about everything on them. Turns out that once you tire of playing with all the lighting and other switches, you never touch them again. The leather was not all that great and the Shaker stereo was not clear. I just decided that i could build a better sound system and i liked the comfort and the non slip of cloth seats better suited me. I am very happy with my choice as far as options on this car and i have updated the stock base sound system with a crossover, an amp and 10" subwoofer. :headbang:

I'm neither a broke kid nor a geezer. I can afford many a car. Just because I can afford it doesn't mean I'm going to spend my money frivolously
