Barely had my car a month...

Some clown decided it was okay to use my car as a door stop. Stripped the paint down to the sheet metal. It's so enfuriating when you park an inch from the curb and they still manage to do this.
Got an appointment with dealership service, but I'm not exactly confident in their abilities. Hopefully they can fix it for a fair price and do a good job.
(Please ignore the filthy car, it was clean until today's rain)

That sucks man, I know what you mean. I always park as close to the curb as possible and then they park even closer to you passing the separation line and into your section. Or you park by yourself in a huge empty parking lot then they still park next to you.

Seriously, I can park in a space with 30 spares nearby and STILL they insist on parking right next door...

Oh man, you just reminded me. Got to one of the jobsites, an old man(80+) parked his car too close to an older BMW 5 series, hes got like 6" of room, and hes struggling to squeeze out, and continues struggling. All the while the spot to the right of him was empty, and he's using his door as a brace to help him squeeze out, as you can guess, his door is contacting the BMW's.

I'm just standing there in disbelief :doh:

People have just lost respect for anything other than their own shit. When I stop at any quickie mart type of joint I will park at the gas pumps whether I'm getting fuel or not. It helps but when at the mall it's a crap shoot.

I don't use the Mustang as a daily driver but use our Ford Territory.

When I park I will always choose the free spot between 2 other cars. At least this way you eliminate 50% of the risk of getting a ding in the door as these cars are already there.

I used to try and park away from everything but before you know some dimwit parks right next to you.

I've found with my method I do have less marks.

No shit. Some idiot had to squeeze his pos suburban between my FJC and this poorly parked van leaving only 3 ft distance between the cars when there are 10 spots empty on the other side of the van. Then, the rear passenger decided to put a dime size ding in my spotless paint.

I also try to park far away from the entrance of any store/mall/etc when I've got the Mustang or the A8. Your typical lazy mofo that's likely to not care about the car next to them is the same type of slob that doesn't want to walk an extra inch to the entrance.

That said...on the other extreme, I always get a chuckle when some dude (and it's always a dude) parks diagonally across 2 spots to ensure nobody gets in close. Where I park, it's almost always a vette or BMW M(insert number). You'd think that would annoy some yahoos enough that they'd key the car out of spite.

Saw a Ferrari California at a Whole Foods doing that recently taking up two spots right in front of the store. That was a new one for me. Usually you don't see really expensive cars parked like that.

Never really get why people do this. There are already way too many spiteful little shits around, not sure why you'd give them incentive to fuck with your car. Really these guys need to do what the rest of us do and park alone and walk or find a curb to park close to. If that's too much risk you probably just shouldn't drive the car.

Just got her back from the dealership, with no fix until (hopefully) next week. I'm considering just touching up / wet sanding until I'm satisfied with the results as long as my OCD will accept an imperfect outcome. Reality is, it will probably just happen again. Pains me everytime I go in the garage and my eye is drawn to that spot, especially on such a pronounced body line...

It doesn't seem like there's a safe place except tucked snugly alone in the garage. If you take up two spots it's just asking for attention. If you park an inch from the curb someone will park over the line. If you park alone in the back 40 either someone will find you and park right next to you or a stray cart will seek your car out like a hooker seeks cocaine. It's a losing battle, for sure. Makes me wish I had my old F-150 back just for a daily.

Whenever they allow us to electrify our cars I'll be first in line for that mod.

If you're going to drive the car you're going to damage it. Even if it's just sitting in your garage it's still wearing away. Everything is slowly degrading, liquids are going bad, seals are rotting, paint is oxidizing, etc... I can sympathize because I'm a bit OCD about how my cars look. I don't even trust others to change oil, lost two engines to tech stupidity over the years before learning my lesson.

My new mustang took a piece of flying rubber to the fascia on the highway within two months of leaving the dealership and like 5 miles of me installing my MMD grilles and spoiler. It's not even my daily driver! I just got super unlucky one nice sunny day. It is what it is, you should try to get the damage fixed and then just enjoy the car. Wet sanding isn't a bad idea. I usually do that and hit it with the rotary and if I don't like the results then it's body shop time.

I'd like to add another question to all: When your car was new with temp plates, did it seem like you attracted the wrong kind of attention?

Drive enough shits gonna happen. I took a chunk of what musta been concrete to the front splitter lip back in December. Luckily a buddy has connections and hooked me up with a new part for free. I paid with the 300 screws and push pins though LOL.

I always park out in left field and walk.
If that option is not available, I will look for a spot that has a curb to pull up to that is on
the vehicles passenger side.
As long as some one pulls in beside you the same way, there is a zero percent chance that the driver's side door will hit your car.
Of course, any passenger opening their door increased the probability of damage to your car.
There is also the problem of errant shopping carts not returned to cart corrals.
My DD (parked in left field) once suffered a direct hit resulting in $3000.00 worth of damage.
Very frustrating!!
