ISSUE RESOLVED PLEASE SEE THE MESSAGE BELOW!

Hi all,

Ordered sf4/x4 tuner with 2 custom tunes from Bama for my 2016 Mustang GT Manual- 3.31, through Americanmuscle. I requested 91 performance and 91 race tune. Car has Roush CAI and Roush catback.

As advised I made sure I uploaded the update before connecting the tuner to my car.

I tried loading both tunes and the car does not idle properly in any of them. Engine rpms go to 200-300 and the engine dies if I don't hold my foot on the gas.

Obviously this is a "too rich AFR" problem. I started looking at the Air-fuel ratio; the AFRs' are 8 when idling and 10 max when driving. Car stalls, bogs and all other drivability issues.

To be safe I took out MAF, cleaned it, uploaded the tunes back in. No luck.

Returned to the stock tune, it's back to normal.

So, what part of a Bama tune is "custom" if it does not even holds the AFRs at idle? I'm even curious about the ignition timing and other specs.

Anybody had similar issues with BAMA? Do I need to do KAM Reset and/or Crank Relearn?

You specified the MAF was 85mm correct? Cause tune required CAI are 100+mm and will run super rich on a 85mm MAF.

I specified Roush VT removed & stock MAF. Let me check with them tomorrow.

Dude bama is a joke. Even the PP2 tune will out perform it. If your gonna go after market go for aed, palm beach, Lund or even livernois. Im on PP2 for now but plan to go Procharger/Lund or whipple!

Yes, I will go to a more specialized option once I go to FI or intake manifold route. Honestly, $150- $200 price difference was important for me since I don't expect others to come up with magical numbers . However, I was not expecting to have such issues with Bama.

What does this mean? Roush CAI with the insert removed?
Stupid me. That's correct. I went back and removed the insert. Uploaded the tune, BAM!
I have 91 tune and so far extremely satisfied with the result.
Hopefully this could be a learning experience for others. Thanks guys!

I just purchased an sct x4, and it does not specify Roush intake. I installed 91 tune and ran like yours. Wondering if removing the insert would help me too...will look at it...may try using JLT intake option and see what happens...

Well, just took the insert out and installed 91 octane tune. Selected JLT intake...cranked it up and let her warm up...went out for a test drive...MUCH BETTER!!! Did a pull on long stretch of service road and backed out at 150 with it still climbing! Holy Crap Batman! What a difference!

Wait... you're using a Roush cold air intake with a tune selected for a JLT?

There is no selection available for the Roush intake, but the intake tube size is very similar, so it works! Took it out for a test run and ran it up to 150 and it was still pulling hard!
