They won't sell me the R so I'll be taking my complaint to Ford, Yelp, BBB, etc.

I've reached my breaking point and fed up with Ford dealers with their shady sales tactics and in some cases, just plain ignorance.
Good luck, when I get the time I'll post a warning for prospective customers on one of the review sites. I'll keep it non specific, but hopefully the more negative reviews they get, it'll change something.

I know it is a longshot, but hopefully it works out.

Man that sucks. Unfortunately your complaints will unlikely land you another R. The only effective action would be to bring your business elsewhere. Maybe shop back in a year or 2 when all this non sense will be over. GL

OP,

I am with you. From a sales/customer service perspective, Ford is the worst I have seen and I have seen them all including Corvette and Viper.

This story pisses me off, but I shouldn't be surprised. When I was first looking for a GT, the sales rep pointed out a GT350 on the lot and proudly exclaimed that they had just sold it for $15k over msrp, as if that were a good thing.

I very much dislike the sales department at my local Ford dealership, but thankfully I rarely have to deal with them. Their service guys are much, much better people and I genuinely enjoy talking with them whenever I bring my car in for something.

Complaints filed so far with Ford Customer Service and the BBB, just getting started.
There's also a place you can file a complaint on USA.gov and in California you can file with the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Here's their link: [email protected]

I'm sure there are more agencies to complain to and I hope you hit each and every one. Good luck Grun.

Good luck! Hopefully being a big enough thorn will pay off, who knows perhaps ford will actually do something to remedy the ills of some of their dealers

There's a famous court case in England where a p-car guru had reserved the right to purchase a rare Porsche. The dealership sold his car to someone else. He sued and won. Would be awesome if you were to be able to make that happen.

Maybe it'll come with a playboy bunny in the passenger seat as well :D

While I would love to see him get compensated like you've suggested, you and I both know they won't do anything of the sort. Realistically, op will be lucky if Ford forces the dealer to sell him the R, or if they yank their allocation and then another dealer fulfills it for him.

Really hope they sort the OP out though, it is actually disgusting what those guys are trying to pull off here. I would 100% going after them legally, since they are blatantly lying.

A decent lawyer would snap this up and have a letter out the door same day. Provide your purchase correspondence to a lawyer, and in a few hours time a certified letter goes out the door detailing the facts of the situation and providing legal proof that the vehicle sale is not prohibited in any way. Few hundred bucks...might net you the car!

I agree. If a letter from an attorney was able to get 7 additional 1993 Cobra Rs produced for a group of people who never really intended on racing them... a letter about a legitimate integrity issue should at least get him the car.

Anyone have a lawyer they can recommend? :)
