I don't know... but I'm sure there will be kits that leave the resonator in tact.

I don't think you will have to cut. You can remove bolts from the suitcase center back.

Yep... looks like stock clamps (between the suitcase and the cats).

Should be easy (if you want to remove the suitcase). If not, there will be cutting.

What is that "suitcase"? Resonator?

Thanks for the continued detailed looks at this. While I definitely agree it is good that the "suitcase" ( at this term - clever) has clamps, this part is basically performing the cross over function and is likely a factor in the production of the sound. So if you remove it, hard to say what changes will in the tone and volume will be.

I suppose one upside of having more of the welds in place is better management of rattling pipes, which is a downside of the current system. When the pipes expand and contract from temperature, rattling noises from metal-on-metal can be induced. Maybe this design was warranted, given the rear suspension changes.

Perhaps it is a tradeoff for progress. It will be interesting to see (hear) what happens with aftermarket systems.

Suitcase it is.

The suitcase is the best thing about the new Mustang exhaust. Exhaust systems sound better "to me" when the mufflers are in the middle of the system and not at the end with no pipe following the mufflers. This system looks like it might be perfect with just a couple small glass pack type mufflers after the axle.

Removing the crossover/resonator aka suitcase means you can replace with with a different form of crossover, like an x-pipe or h-pipe. It doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be replaced with straight pipe.

you mean catback. (or midpipe back, or whatever it's called before the suitcase)
