Hey guys, before y’all just jump me. I got an automatic because I wasn’t 100% with my manual skills. But now I want a manual, and I was looking into changing transmissions. Is it cheap or relatively cheaper than trading it for another mustang?

I agree that manuals are fun, but after coming from a '03 Cobra and '17 Focus ST I love the A10! And it's faster. You're welcome.

If you really, really want a manual, be prepared to take a large financial hit, and trade it in for one.

I agree with you. I always get those people saying, "Why did you buy an auto? Manuals are better" yet they never drove an A10. Not saying its for everyone's tastes, but I sure do like mine and not having to shift gears in bumper to bumper traffic all of the time.

For the OP, selling and buying a manual will be cheaper.

Are you insane? You don't buy a car. Immediately trade it. And not lose money. OP if you wanted a manual. You should have bought a manual in the first place. Quit listening to your "cool" manual driving friends and keep what you have.

If you just have to have slower starts, constantly watching the tach and speedometer, trying to keep in the right gear to match your power, missing the right gear when you shift, killing the engine because you either let the clutch out too fast or didn't give it enough gas for a smooth start, etc., etc., then go ahead and trade for a manual, because swapping the transmissions is a bigger PITA and money loss than trading.
Now if you were in a manual and wanted to go to an auto, then you could forget everything above except the PITA and money loss to swap the transmissions.

So you are saying that is better and cheaper swap trasmission than find a good deal on a manual?

Unless you have money to burn (at least $5k), keep the car you have and get a manual transmission next time. You aren't missing out on anything. There is plenty of time in the future for a manual transmission.

No Im saying you bought the 10 speed. Keep the 10 speed. Any other option loses you thousands of dollars.

Ferrari gave up on manual transmissions years ago. There's a reason for that, and there is a reason Ferrari has been one of the most dominant and ultimate sports cars for decades.

Maybe i didn't get the question of the OP
he said.
"But now I want a manual, and I was looking into changing transmissions. Is it cheap or relatively cheaper than trading it for another mustang?"
I answer : trade in and buy a new one. Waaay cheaper.
U said that u loose 5k for trading in (btw 10speed value is > than manual. Pretty sure you can find a very good deal fpr that)
It will cost around 10k to swap trans.
So i suggested trade in cause is cheaper.
And OF COURSE like you were suggesting not doing anything is the cheapest one :D
The question was specific and I specific answered. That is why "are you insane" seemed a little ..too much.

It's doable but it can become expensive quickly.

Think of it like this:

Do you plan on keeping the car for a long while or do you like to trade up/out every 1-3 years?

What's your driving like ordanarily (daily/city vs country etc).

Is it a particularly rare model where a manual is an option stock yet the pricing is through the roof to have that option?

I love a good manual transmission but automatics can't be beat for the convenience they offer.
