For those that have changed ATF, what are most using...I see a lot of votes for amsoil. If I do this, I want to put the best stuff in there.

+1 also interested. In past cars I have used OEM trans fluid, since many transmissions are very picky about the fluid. Curious if theres anything better though.

I will use Amsoil when the time comes. I had an Explorer I bought used with 35k miles on it. One the first things I did was put Amsoil in the tranny, diff, and oil tank...sold it at 170k miles and it still shifted perfectly. I am definitely a fan and long time user of it...used it in all my vehicles.

Mine sat at 196-200F on my 5.5 hour trip. Ambient ranged from 70-90F. Engine oil temp was about 205F. That is the longest I have run the car at a time.

Factory automatic already has a transmission cooler and it definitely has a thermostat to regulate temperature also.
200F is nothing in a modern transmission with long drain synthetic oil.

For those changing out the stock fluid, how exactly do you plan draining it all? Is there a flush system (for lack of a better word) that sucks out 100% of the fluid?

From my experience with other torque converter automatics is that the pan holds about 1/3rd of the total system fluid, with the rest being in the torque converter which doesn't drain back into the transmission and the pan. So when draining the fluid you don't get anywhere near the whole thing.

Flushing would get all of the stuff out but if you just drain and fill, you are only getting maybe half of it out.
Some people do a double drain and fill trying to get as much out as possible.
