Just got done installing this cheap mod. I only spent 10.00 total. It's not the cleanest install but I have $1000 tied up in new tune ,exhaust, and plugs/wastegate right now to afford the wm garage one. Ill prob change over eventually.

The button is just pushed by a plastic rod that goes down to a lower spring. I drilled a 1/2 in hole then went deeper w a hole size of the rod So when u push down on the ball it acts like the button. I got a new full black ball instead. The eight ball I had laying around the house at the time.

how did the knob attach to the shaft(not the button part). isn't it smooth with no threading?

That's the downside of the mod. There is no locking connection unfortunately. It can slide up and down but can be pulled off I haven't found a way to lock it in so it can't come out if u pull all the way up on it.

maybe a threaded collar... the boot would hide the excess threading as it moved up...

Think a hollow all thread. It would extend lower... it would still pull up, but the boot would keep it down before it all came off the shaft.

Are you saying that the WMG shifter will pop out if pulled upward and isn't secured by the two screws?

OH no... the WMG shifter FULLY bolts in... no movement what so ever... above is a separate mod of just drill and ball and sticking it on the factory shaft.
