Just got my brushed shifter from WMG. The top of it wasn't completely blended in with the rest of the finish. There's some dents/imperfections that are also semi-visible.

Is this me nitpicking or are these minor cosmetic issues common?
I would think after spending $150 you can expect to get a product that doesn't look like it was used. I'd contact them and ask for the knob to be replaced.

I like the way the aftermarket knobs look but someone needs to make a more affordable alternative. Paid $199 for my Hurst which looks/works great but way overpriced!

i replaced mine with a new shaft and custom red knob(auto pattern etched on the top). Total cost from Sickspeed was $71.00. Install was less than 1/2 hour.
I also replaced the auto trim bezel with the manual one for another $70.

Hey I ordered the Manuel plate and the new shifter but I'm confused on which plate do u use on the car the Manuel plate with the automatic clip or the automatic plate with the manuel boot ? And what do u do with the light harness on the automatic plate?

Tuck the wire for the light away. The manual boot and trim click right into the same place that the automatic boot and trim were in. Direct swap.

manual trim replacement

the post of mine in is the manual plate and boot, just the way it comes from the factory. i have the redline trim on the boot as it matches the interior.
some people replace the boot with a new leather one but that's a lot more work and expense, not sure it's worth it. that's your call

My revised version has become all wobbly again. I wish someone made a sturdy t handle conversion kit for the auto. The only other options I can find other than these are the pistol grip ones from Hurst and Barton but I don't like em.
what's wobbly the knob or the shaft? maybe a little loctite would help.

Check the 2 little screws that connect the shifter to the OEM shifter stalk.

Mine came a bit lose and was wobbly and I couldn't figure out why. Pulled it apart the screws were pretty loose. Tightened right back up

I agree; there is a lot of vibration that you don't really feel but it's enough to back the screws out even with the lock washers with teeth on them.

I haven't used mine much but I did apply some blue (non-permanent) Loctite to the threads and I'm betting it will hold fine.

There aren't many other options and those expensive aftermarket auto shifter replacements aren't my cup of tea.

More details on that shaft and ball please.
I'm trying to do the same thing and have a manual redline boot & ball coming in.

i got the shaft and ball from sickspeed.com. they didn't have the shaft for the mustang on their website so I emailed them and they created an ebay item which I purchased. the screw on top of the shaft is 12x 1.25 so not sure if you have to drill out the knob you purchased. It is a push down to shift and works fine. here's a link to one of their ebay items, not sure if it's the right one but contact them and they'll take care of it.

Wow, I am pleasantly surprised at how well this matches my redline interior

I love how much lower the shifter is now. Feels like I have so much more room. Just have to get rid of the habit of resting my hand on it since it shifts by pushing the knob downwards.

No shaft, just ball. The rod goes almost all the way into the ball, which is what I wanted. The boot is tucked inside the ball, and then a washer plate is threaded over it holding the boot secure with the knob. Similar to vogtaction

$12 on ebay

I was afraid it would rattle when driving since it's just sitting on top of the rod, but it doesn't rattle at all.

Can someone with a White Madness knob measure how high it is? I want to compare some things. I know it's shorter than the auto.
