APEX 19" EC-7 Wheels - GT350 Brake Clearance

Great news for all you GT350 owners out there! A local enthusiast was nice enough to donate his GT350 to the cause, and brake clearance has been verified. Although we originally manufactured these to specifically clear just about any brake kit you throw at them, we wanted to double back and perform further in-house testing for validation. Whether enthusiasts choose to run a staggered or rotatable square fitment, APEX 19" wheels will supply GT350 owners with piece of mind on and off the race track.

Full GT350 photoshoot to come once we receive our wider sample wheels, but for now these 19x10" EC-7 Mustang wheels depict the ample clearance GT350 owners can expect.

Brake Clearance - Spokes
Spokes that work for you

If the spokes of a wheel don't clear your brake calipers, then the wheel can’t be used at all. We made sure these wheels properly clear both standard and big brake kits offered by Ford, plus popular aftermarket BBK’s when configured correctly. Keep in mind, some aggressive square fitments utilizing the 19x10.5”or 19x11” EC-7 wheels at the front axle will require spacers for proper inner strut clearance, and this will also ensure proper brake clearance.

Brake Clearance - Barrel
A lot of room in a tight space

Designing a wheel with spokes that clear a Big Brake Kit, is only half of the battle. The inside of the barrel needs to be large enough to physically fit large calipers and rotors. Be warned— not all wheels are made equal. The barrel of the EC-7 wheel offers unmatched caliper clearance because wheels shouldn’t limit your choice of aftermarket brake kits, and brake kits shouldn’t force you to run oversized wheels. We 2D modeled most Big Brake Kits available in Solidworks and tweaked the wheel design of the EC-7 prior to production in order to fit as many kits as possible.

These wheels effectively clear a variety of aftermarket BBK’s as well as popular factory BBK’s like the S197 14” and 15” GT500 Brembo kits, S550 Performance Package Brembo kit, and even the S550 GT350 Brembo kit!

In my long search for a reasonably priced track wheel, it appears that Apex is going to make a square and staggered set-up for the GT350 platform. Check it out!

Thank you for posting, sir. We really appreciate the support, and your efforts to spread the word.

Nice.... I'm presuming the 19x11 et52 all around will fit & clear without using spacers correct?
As Speedfreak mentioned, depending on the suspension at hand, you are looking at between a 20mm or 25mm spacers up front for proper strut clearance. Coilovers with offset mounting points like the Cortex JRi suspension would provide enthusiasts with more inner clearance, therefore thinner spacers could be utilized.

Many enthusiasts using the GT350 as a track weapon (and I hope every last of you are ) are looking for a way to reduce rotating mass (yes, the stock wheels are boat anchors) while improving the handling characteristics with the ability to rotate wheels and tires on all four corners of the car. A square fitment in combination with the right amount of negative camber will result in a very balanced chassis, along with significantly prolonging the life of your tires due to more consistent wear patterns. Managing tires is a big part of this expensive sport.

Any chance they can make these in an R figment: 19 x 11.5 ?

If so, I would buy a set.
The current proposal to offer 19x9.5" ET35, 19x10" ET40, 19x10.5" ET46 & 19x11" ET52 allows us to configure many proven staggered and square fitments for the S550. For GT350 owners specifically, we would have the 19x10.5" front / 19x11" rear staggered fitment option, as well as both the 19x10.5" and 19x11" square fitment options for those looking to rotate wheels and tires all on all four corners of the car. I do not think there would be enough demand to warrant a full production run on a 19x11.5" wheel for the rear, as the number of enthusiasts looking to take advantage of an 11.5" rear wheel would be quite limited. As always, if the community determines that there is in fact enough demand for an 11.5" rear wheel, we can build it.

Here are two more renderings on the GT350 to hold you guys over. Keep in mind this photo reflects our EC-7 19x10" ET40 with 275/35-19 RE-71R on all four corners. Both the staggered and square GT350 fitments will be more aggressive with much beefier compounds.

More Questions

Is anybody planning on mounting 325 Michelin PS4's out back on this 11 inch wheel? That's what I'm considering as a daily driver tire on my R.

Michelin specs show the 325's fit on an 11 in rim, but I would like to know what, if any, downsides would be with this - cosmetic or functional.

Any help appreciated.

If you would like, take a look at the Group Buy page for all the details on the 19" EC-7 wheels. We dive into the construction of the wheel, weight and strength optimizations, testing and certifications and more. I have pasted in the portion about testing and certifications below for your reference :)

The EC-7 design is not a new one for us, and we have extensive history within the BMW community as some of you may know. Our manufacturing, testing and certification process is the same with our Mustang offering.

Testing & Certifications

Computer simulated stress tests are no match for real world testing when designing a lightweight wheel that will see extreme loads. All APEX wheels are crush and load tested to exceed JWL standards and those results are independently tested in Japan by the 3rd party government agency known as the VIA. Countless wheel companies falsely claim they are tested and certified by the VIA, and so they lack the certificates to prove it. We test and certify each and every design, diameter, width, and offset, separately. We publicly list all our VIA registration numbers which are on file with the VIA for confirmation. Don't trust brands that claim testing, but can't provide verifiable registration numbers.

is the GT350 fitment a one-off in this group buy, or will the sizes be incorporated into the standard line?

These sizes will be incorporated into our full Mustang lineup, however once the wheels arrive in stock they will be sold at MSRP. The deal is a great chance to reserve a set off the first incoming shipment while receiving a solid discount :)

Hey neighbor! These wheels are in production, therefore we only have a couple sample wheels in-house. You are welcome to schedule a time to come see the 19x10" sample wheels if you would like
