Personally I don't use TPMS on the track because I know immediately before and immediately after the session I'm checking pressures, making adjustments if needed. Not really that necessarily if you're diligent in checking pressures and just keeping a general eye on things to make sure they're wearing properly.
Good point i drive to and from the track on my track wheels

The first time my right rear tire picked up some debris, I was on the highway and the tire collected a finishing nail. With the nail through the tread, the tire lost about 1 psi per minute - after the first warning on the dash I had 10 minutes to get off the freeway. I caught the first exit and saved the tire and avoided a blow-out. TPMS 1; bad luck 0.

The second time my right rear tire picked up some debris was at my last session of the last trackday I attended this year. This time, my right rear tire had a gleaming little "X" on it - the head of a Phillips screw stuck straight into the tread. Thing was, it wasn't leaking, so there was no TPMS warning. Nonetheless, the tire was toast, and so was the rest of my track day.

So, what's my point? Race tracks are not immune from debris that can puncture a tire, and there's more than enough time in a 20 minute session to pick up a piece of debris or a screw that lets the enough air out of a tire that handling is compromised or the tire overheats and fails.

It's safer for you and for the drivers around you if you install TPMS that work with the safety systems in your car. Track driving has enough risks already.

Thanks, sounds like I was ripped off. They even said $83 is MSRP and they took 15% off. I m not at a computer now, I will confirm the part numbers match from ford parts and if they do will buy it from your link. I appreciate it!

I paid $60 for each. Mine says 433 Mhz on them and thats exactly why I had to buy them from the dealer vs optimum mustang link. I called optimum mustang and they said theirs should be same as GT350 but it is 315 Mhz. When I went to fordparts, it showed 433 Mhz for "shelby". Also the dealer looked this up with my VIN and said I need 433 Mhz.

All this 433 vs 315 might be a marketing gimmick. I am only relaying what I learned.

Thanks for the heads up, went ahead and bought a set on Tirerack. I guess we'll see if they work when I mount them on the track wheels next week.

I got the OEM ones from Rock Auto listed for the GT350 and they work fine. Took about 10 min of driving for them to register, no tone tool needed.

No gimmick. If the receiver is set at 433 MHz, it will only work with 433 MHz sensors (unless the receiver is dual/multi freq)

How do you know what you have? I have a 2017 R.

Edit: answering my own question in part, LMR site says this:

***TPMS Sensor Note***
The sensors included with this kit are Ford Motorcraft TPMS39 sensors, which are a direct fit for GT350. Most GT350R models require the use of TPMS45 sensors, however there are some GT350R Mustangs that use TPMS39. You MUST check your VIN number, and confirm with your local dealer, before ordering to verify which sensor you need. If your Shelby requires TPMS45 sensors, please contact customer service prior to ordering to ensure the correct sensors are installed in your R350 wheels. No training tool is required as the sensors automatically sync to your car.

That's what I found when researching a set of OEM sensors for my 6GR wheels. Here's what I ended up buying. If I remember correctly, I got them through White Bear Lake at a great price.

White Bear Lake Ford is showing these at $64.39 per sensor. Not an inexpensive item for 4. :ford:

Tire rack has that part for $36 - 315mhz but I am going to check part number via VIN with Ford dealer since there seems to be no way to know for sure what works otherwise. Happy to be corrected about this.
