I sold my Ecoboost for a profit recently. Theres a '15 GT with my favorite specs up for grabs, and the price is relatively reasonable (given the car market these days).
Only catch? 150k miles on the clock.
Just wondering if anyone on here has/had experience with incredibly high mileage S550 GTs. I hope to drive this car another 100k miles without any catastrophic issues. I had problems here and there with my Ecoboost with about half the miles, so I would expect cost of replacement and labor would be relatively similar, which is manageable to me.
Note: it's an Automatic so I wouldn't be dealing with the MT82

Not sure what your last sentence is supposed to mean. MT-82s are durable and can withstand a lot. The clutches are good for over 100k miles.

Anyways, without previous history of the car and how it was maintained, you are rolling the dice on this one. This is a high performance car after all, so chances are it wasn't babied. I personally think the Coyote is good for a minimum of 200k miles if maintained properly. After the 200k mile mark, all bets are off. Really, any car built these days should last 200k miles if properly maintained.

There was a 2011 Mustang GT posted on Facebook marketplace last year that had over 250k miles on it. Still running strong but I believe had an oil leak. These Coyotes are impressive, but everything has its limit of abuse.

I've seen cars like this listed, mod list is a mile long and at the end of the post they mention it was never raced lol. But seriously no that's just too many miles thats why the price is so low. I just replaced my engine and it ran me about 11k for a new one (Installed). A used engine with 50k on it will still run you around $8,500.

Bought mine with 91k miles for $20k. 2015 gt premium auto. Owned by a middle-aged married couple and the wife drove it daily. They did lots of road trips which is why the miles were so high and she did live a little ways from her work.

They didn't modify the car and it was always parked in their garage or a parking garage. The paint looks amazing, does have a lot of rock chips from our shit highways. Has a few minor scratches, nothing you can see without looking. Also may have a small dent.

Lady did mention she wanted to track the car but never got a chance. Had an average of like 22.5 mpg so she didn't drive the car hard very often.

Probably the best bet for a higher mileage purchase as I doubt they did much racing or pushed the car very hard. They have service records for everything and only had to replace one or two parts. They took it to the dealership for their oil changes so the dealership should have caught any problems and helped them keep good maintenance.

No problems yet but I've only put another 3.5k miles on it. If you do consider this purchase try to gauge if the car has been taken care of. Definitely don't buy a high mileage car that has been abused.

I would be more suspect of the auto tranny @ 150K than the engine. At least with a manual, you could put in a new clutch, and be good for several more years, provided nothing else goes to crap, which most likely will happen.
Me? I'd continue the hunt.

Pretty sure he meant that the car in question is an automatic...

IMO, I would wait until prices come back down and find something with lower miles at that point. The other benefit to waiting for prices to come down is that you won’t be eating into the profit you made and selling your eco-boost.

Let's say the '15 was bought in 2015.

That's 6.5 years for 150,000 miles. = around 23,000 miles a year.

That's someone that travels in their car for a living. So if they're freeway miles, those are easy miles. If they're city miles, those are hard miles.

Look at all the leading edges of the paint. On the fenders, the roof line, hood, front bumper. If those edges have a lot of rock chips, the miles were freeway miles. If there's not rock chips, they were city miles.

@80FoxCoupe thanks for the tag. I got my 15 with 62k on it in 18. It now has 126k and runs like a champ. Aside from the seat bottom bolster being cracked and the damn air conditioning being out, I have zero issues or complaints. Its been on E for the past 15k miles with a PBD tune. Trans is shifting perfect. Tune has the shift points set @ 7800. I absolutely beat the shit out of my car DAILY and it has performed flawlessly. I would have no issue buying one of these with that kind of mileage.

I put a lot of miles on my cars. I have a long commute to work. I buy all my cars new and trade them all in, in the 150-160 thousand mile range. That just seams to be when all the little things start to fail. Starters, window motors, window switches it’s always something with a car with that many miles. They become a money pit.
