I ordered my GT Premium Fastback with manual transmission at the dealer on 9/9 as a retail order. Order confirmation was dated 9/10 priority 10, order type 1. When I checked Cotus tonite, I see a VIN is now listed.

There's no way you ordered on 9/9 as Retail and already have a VIN.

It has to be a Stock order, or the dealer changed it to stock without your knowledge.

Based on my experience so far with this dealer, I'm guessing they just messed up.

He changed it to stock without you knowing. Once the dealers find out that stock will be ordered first, they want good business and a quick sale...so they did it so you would get it here faster. Mine SAID they did that too.

I am going to laugh when these stock built cars are still sitting at ford and the retail cars are being shipped. Then we are going to see the complete opposite, the stock people will be bitching that their cars were built first, but because of QC, they are waiting and are having issues on them fixed.

the bottom line is that none of the S550's have been shipped so we all need to relax. Once everything starts rolling us Retail guys (I confirmed mine is retail) will see things move very quickly from VIN to Production. It's all a matter of JIT manufacturing once the final OK is given things will start smoking. why would ford build 600 cars a day so they can fix a minor issue on 600 each day. Make 200 each day and the fix would be much easier. Just relax we will all get our cars and we'll all be showing off very soon.

Congratulations firstly.

BUT..... Could there be a chance that your dealer put you in as a stock order on that 8/6 date instead of the 7/28 retail order. It sounds to me like that is what could have happened. If you could get an updated DORA from your dealer I'm sure you could find out. I just have a feeling this is what has happened as NO retail orders seem to have been scheduled/assigned VINs yet.

Regardless, congrats on the best color.
