Just wondering. I have it both on the 350 & the R.

Similar to UConnect on SRT/FCA cars.

I use it. But I am not subscribing for the wifi hotspot service. I do get my OTA software updates as the car connects to the house wifi when parked in the garage. Otherwise I use the phone app to check tire pressure, fuel level and the basics.

One thing that drove me nutz was connecting to apps like Pandora. When I started the car, Sync 3 would boot up all the apps including Pandora and Ford Pass. Pandora would launch and I would drive away. Shortly afterwards, Pandora would drop, Ford Pass would disappear. I would have to close and relaunch the apps from the phone and 'find' them in the Sync 3 launcher. As it turned out, it was due to the car losing the house wifi connection (as well as my phone) and I had to relaunch from the phone once it had established a cellular connection and communicate to Sync3 via bluetooth. If I had the wifi subscription for the car, this would have remained seamless.

Use it and like it. Good for service to see if any one is putting miles on. Also can track car if stolen. As mentioned tire pressure oil life and remote start from anywhere. Pretty handy for a no cost. Car has accident 911 calling as well using same modem if I recall. Others like GM have same but at a monthly sub fee.

Yeah, this why I asked. I've heard it can be a bit quirky depending on the user.

They have made many updates to Ford Pass since I started using it almost 2 years ago. That has lead to periods where it did not work properly and was unstable. I received several surveys about the app and the My Ford website (which is a navigational nightmare of loops). As of today it performs as expected. Since remote start is not available on GT350s it is not on the app. Yet there is a charging station feature. Typical design by committee.

@Purerock105: Mark, what Mike @VoodooVelocity said above applies to myself also. I've gotten some software updates this way, and alternatively by download to a USB "thumbdrive". If I ever decide to upgrade my radar detector to an Escort Redline 360c as I'm considering I may then subscribe to the WiFi hotspot service to maximize the detector's capabilities, but otherwise I don't really need that feature while driving. If I ever get "into" using music applications, then I'll probably subscribe, for the reason Mike described in his original posting.

In general, so far I've found it to be more in the category of a "niceity" rather than a "necessity", but it does offer some handy features about Ford vehicle ownership useful to have at your fingertips on your smartphone.

...not me.
I had Uconnect on the Challenger and the OnStar on the Camaro.
As long as it was free, it was ok.
Didn't have anything on the '17GT and on the '21, the salesman wanted
me to download an app on my iphone for FordPass.
Couldn't do it because I don't have WiFi enabled on our cell phones and I
didn't know how to do it.
He seemed puzzled that I couldn't accommodate him on the app and I
finally got him to understand all my cell was for was to text my
Grandson and make a call to my mom from time to time.........................

You shouldn't need wifi enabled on your phone to download the FordPass app on your phone. Just search for it in the App Store, then download it.

Besides, the car will live most of it's life downstairs.........................

There is a setting in the Sync system that permits the car to talk to Ford. Its enabled by default.

Its always on. It always transmits info back to Ford. If you want to keep it, then I strongly recommend you opt out of sharing your information with insurance companies. I believe if you have FordPass, you are automatically opted in on that.

If you don't want your information collected or shared under any circumstance, I suggest you pull the fuse to the telematic modem or physically pull the power/data harness to the modem.

If anyone wants more info, search it here on this forum.

I use it, wish it told you the temp inside the vehicle. It would help me decide if remote starting it is necessary
