Wow... That's a terrible statement.

I just took mine in at 550 miles to get the oil changed. My choice mechanic is a senior master something or another there and the only one in the area... His credentials are on the wall about 10-12 times.

He told me to drive it on the lift... Asked me to watch the whole process... Laid mats over the fender, cloths under the funnel and across the valve cover, checked all fluids and then buttoned everything up as if it was his kid in a new diaper. He then asked me when I was going with racing brake fluid...;)

My Ford mechanic is great!

I'm a mechanic by trade, and this is how I treat others vehicles also, but not every mechanic has this mentality. I take pride in my work and because I'm a owner operator I feel that I gain my customers trust more so then a "employee" I myself never take anything back to the dealer, warranty or not. I do it myself. But I know where STEVE16 is coming from. My dad has owned and operated a body shop for over 45 years and takes great pride in his work, the dealer? Not so. They give it the production job. Get her in and out" that's all they care about.

Today while I was at my local dealer picking up a spare set of pads and rotors for my 2016 GT350, they had a 2016 GT350 in the shop for a broken #8 connecting Rod. The engineer that was there said he's the only one in the country that inspects the 5.2 voodoos. They are replacing the long block with a new one. Dealer cost on the new 5.2 long bock is $16000.00 The car had 1200 miles on it and also never had its oil changed yet. They found debris in the oil pan and filter. Glad I changed my oil at 200 miles and cut my filter apart.

Oh.......

No sir. I'm sorry. All I know is what I posted, the owner is local to me but I have never met him. But we both have the same color of car and his is a tech as mine is a track. Every July the Ford dealer where I bought my GT350 has a mustang car show that is pretty big. Hopefully I'll get to meet him there and find out more.

It's not because he had 1200 miles on the motor oil, My honest opinion it was a faulty connecting rod, and yes it happens, you know how I know because I have done lots of racing in my days, and that's not the only part my cars that have gone south in High-performance motors!

I chose my words carefully. There are always exceptions to the rule. I guess we don't all possess your magic charisma that only attracts the best of the best in Ford dealers and their staff.

When you cut your oil filter open at 200 miles did you find anything that was a major concern?

The day I took delivery and as soon as I drove my car home, on the lift snooping around, I put a oil filter magnet on the filter. When I changed the filter and oil and cut the filter open, I didn't see anything of concern. Being that the engine is aluminum I wasn't expecting anything out of the norm. But their was a lot of red and blue debris. When I cut the filter apart and soaked the filter in new clean gasoline and a new container I panned it (panning for gold) then poured the gasoline into 4 new white cotton rags and filtered the oil filtered gasoline. All I found was a lot of red and blue debris with a tiny bit of aluminum specks. It all looks normal.

Wow. Really? I didn't say it was because his is a tech pack car. I also didn't say it was because of the oil. If you read exactly what I said it was because the rod cap moved. I have also built many engines and I know what can cause a broken rod, piston etc.

Getting ready to do my first, about 800 miles
also doing rear end fluid, and tranny fluid,
I will do brakes after first track event in June.
Oil changes every 2000-3000 miles after that max.

Agree, not a versus statement was made. Also, I agree that this should be a symptom that we ALL should be worried about. Obviously, too soon to speculate or formulate cogent opinions...does make one wonder though,hmmm.

What are they charging you for labor?

A local Ford Dealership in Florida charges 9.95 for an oil change (can bring your own filter/oil).

Every make, model, sub model, trim, and otherwise of every car ever made has had a motor let go. It happens. Let's not get too off the wire yet. So contrary to this incident, Lethal's 350 survived 950 crank horsepower. Yes it was on a dyno but do we honestly think that's just a walk in the park?

My guess is they either spilled oil filling it or when then changed the filter they made a mess. When I change mine, I placed plastic all around the filter area and did it cold. I also loosened the filter then slid a plastic bag over it to catch the mess.
A few rags in the oil filter area won't hurt. I didn't spill a drop.
