Let’s start off by saying I’m not an expert mechanic but I am also not an idiot I can change the intake manifold without an issue tho..
2017 gt350 gen 1
Stage 2 gen 5 3.0
I have followed the whipple directions to the t gone through this thing with a fine tooth comb I had to back out once and reinstalled the oem and it ran fine I don’t want to do it again but after install the car with or without tune runs horrible I’ve replaced the maf iat2 the pigtail tested the injectors fuel pressure fuel itself spark plugs coils air breather but still hard knock little to no throttle response loping erratic idle and stalling I have not taken this off the jacks since install oh the dash throws the wrench cel tractions and mode selector unavailable .. tune or no tune im assuming that’s because it’s not running correctly.l
when I put it back factory she runs like a champ it has to be the Whipple but what exactly could it be it just pushes air in to the engine so it should at idle with no boost idle the way it did in my opinion
Is the throttle body suppose to be 18-19 degrees do I have a bad TB I have annoyed the Whipple guys to much I believe I bought this used and they are not as helpful as if I would have gotten it from them new ..

Bought it used you say? Without knowing the history of who you bought it from, etc, I'd have to venture a guess it's the incorrect throttle body for your application

If it runs ok without the blower, then the parts are ok. If you've installed the parts that Whipple says to install, then it should work.

Since it doesn't work, it sounds like you have an air leak somewhere, or perhaps some kind of blockage in the fuel system. It sounds like either too much air or not enough fuel.

Can you look at the trouble codes? They might give you a hint as to what the ECU thinks is wrong.

I don’t the guy personally but it came off the same car same gen engine everything lined up I replaced all the gaskets with new but yea I’m starting to think he has neglected to tell me all the facts. I mean 7k is a chunk to save so I ran with it but mushy not be saving it anymore haven’t gone this far to not get boosted

All kinds of them mainly maf sensor high maf sensor erratic tps a low tps b high iat2 sensor high so I replaced them except the tps I’m assuming it’s in the throttle body nowadays what I gather is I’m having some issues with the throttle body itself the whipple will open the valve on the opposite side of TB to avoid stalling if I gently throttle it will go up in rpm but it’s all over the place jumping 1k rpm back down back up and I’m not moving the pedal

Small update the tune I got from Whipple seems to be the problem I uploaded it with the rtd as directed but then I pulled it from the car with the mpIv3 compared it with my stock tune and as well as many may know they keep a lot of secrets so not able to see everything but able to see that the tune tacks out at 6750 while my car is Shelby gt359 with the voodoo engine which tacks out at 8250 really 8500 but anyways this tells me that after I’ve been back and forth with the tuner guy from Whipple and he has been saying it’s my car or the install not his tune that it’s his tune !! I already told him it was and he got his panties in a wad about it but I’ve done a lot of off and on with this supercharger tested compression on it I’ve pushed 60lbs into the throttle body with no hissing nor leakage (after I rerouted the oil catch cans) it’s only rated for 30lbs boost so I figure the 60lbs is good enough so no leaks no vacuum issues just the whipple tune from Whipple which also when I turn accessories on the dash on my Mustang throws the wrench and the warnings of which one is hill descent not available .. hill assist is also not available none of the traction control is available all this is before I even start the car
I’m pretty sure the tune is bad at this point but I can’t get the Whipple tech to see it he is just blaming it on my car or mechanical skills ..

If it starts and runs fine with the factory tune (with the Whipple installed but not boosting) then the tuner has probably given you a tune for a GT with the wrong firing order. That'd definitely cause some weird issues.

Why not get a different tune from a reputable tuner?

That is the plan I thought that Whipple was reputable considering they made the supercharger but the imrc deal seems to be more trouble than what it’s worth

Just to be clear. What you’re installing is a used setup. Which setup is it? Stage one, or stage two. Which throttle body. Which calibration do you have, and is it the supplied Whipple tune that hasn’t been unlocked. I’ve done several stage two setups on 350‘s with there tune and there were no issue’s. There stage two tune is good for 750ish at the wheels on pump gas. I’m sure you’re frustrated but blaming whipple isn’t the answer, especially on a secondary install they have no idea what someone is actually working with. There’s no harm in reaching out to a shop that does this regularly, they just may see something you don’t and can actually verify what you’re working with on the tune. These cars are a blast with these systems. Best of luck.

I have a 2019 350 with a Whipple that I did myself. Everything was fine for a couple of thousand miles then started to have issues with cold start. After warmed up was perfect so I thought. When you start it is the idle all over the place? Sounds like cylinders firing and sometimes just stalls? Stuck in limp mode? I found with the 120mm throttle body there was excessive end play in the fly by wire sensor/controller. The medal blade inside was shorting out on cover where the board is. I reached out to Whipple as it was a manufacturer defect 💯. Well sir since the kit was installed 3 yrs ago what do you want me to do about it just buy another for 875 the tech stated. My reply was the car doesn't get driven that's why the problem didn't show itself. I ended up remove blade had machined a few thousands off it tried to get the cover and Ford said you need to buy a whole throttle body to get that cover sir. Asked Whipple if I could get just cover and was told no. I happened to have my stock body still stole that from it and have been great since. Take a look under that cove and just see as you will know right away if that's shorting out. I have pictures of most of it if you need anything please let me know

What could possibly go wrong by buying a used super charger? Genuinely curious.

I believe you are 100 percent correct on this i actually did not realize until digging deeper that the 5.2 had a different firing order and that made a lot of sense after the fact...
