Bottom line for me is that if you are unsure then buy nothing. When my old car bit the dust this summer I was supposed to buy a Hyundai Elantra as optics dictated I should not look too prosperous or a boy racer with some cash. Twenty four hours later I bought the V6 Mustang for maybe six grand more and could not be happier. Bottom line is that I already knew what I wanted to get. I got a car I could live with as a DD. When I retire in a couple of years or even now as I’m old enough, I will get my dream car for weekends and keep diving this V6. All my previous cars had a V8 with the last being an old LT1. Driving this Mustang is a revelation after all those under-steering nose heavy cars. I even took preverse delight in being taunted for driving a 6. And: nothing so far.
I wanted that BTW as I used to torture V6 guys back in the day and now I want my punishment.
One other thing, and no slight on guys who successfully bought used, but I try not to buy used sports cars unless you know and trust the seller. My first 5.0 was totalled in three months and then sold to some unsuspecting guy who had no idea of its history. So I don’t buy used as a general rule. Now go and buy that F150 truck you really want to buy and I’ll see you there in the forums.
