I haven't done crank learning and I had ping.

crank learning is not in the list of things to do though, AFAIR.
So did you try octane adjust under configure tab for the pinging? Or just drove it to see if it would go away?

Ok the kit is on. Took me 4 hours and a couple issues. Cracked that 90 degree on the gt350 intake hose trying to put on the dorman connector. Had to take a trip to autozone and grab some plastic epoxy.

That sound tube kicked my ass. Arms too big to get to it with a flex head wrench. I spent at least an hour pulling twisting and bitching. I am a big guy and that was not just a grab and pull situation. The plug was another pita. I managed to mangle my hand getting it in there after my son failed. Had to lube the inside to get it to push through the firewall with my fingertips.

The rubber intake adapter that connects to the grill is a complete failure. Does not even match the size needed to fit around that thing. Got it the best I could and moved on. Putting that cone filter back on after putting in the foam insert was a bitch as well. Very very little room. Some of the fins actually got damaged. I also could not put on the engine cover. One of the coolant hoses from the tank sits up too high on top of the other vacuum lines. I looked at re routing it but it has bends in it from factory that won't allow it. Not a big deal.

The smoothest part was the tune believe it or not. Hooked up the charger and let her rip. No issues and no CEL's upon starting the car. Overall the kit is not designed to well. Seems to be thrown together without much fitment thought.

Now to the test drive. Just a simple around the block with a couple mid throttle inputs. I can tell the throttle response is a lot better and taking off from first is a hell of a lot better. The exhaust seems throatier and can hear the whistle of the intake. I do feel like it has woke up the car but not sure if I can tell as of yet there is 40 ftlbs of extra torque. At this point I am just glad the car runs and no check engine lights. I will come back after a week or so and give an update.

Thanks for all your help fellas. I really appreciate it.

Please let me know if engine detonates or not. To check for this accelerate next to some obstacle on the left with windows down. You most likely will not hear it with windows up and no obstacle.

Its going to be hard to determine with this engine tick I have had since the first oil change. Ill take a listen though.

This one would be different and easy - when you push accelerometer hard it detonates, when you release it is gone.

Congrats on getting it done! My car had some mild detonation on throttle tip in or lugging the engine down. However, it all disappeared the more miles I drove. Detonation will sound like marbles rattling around in a tin can.

I also broke that 90 degree on the hose. Used some epoxy but eventually found a new hose for cheap online. I agree fitment is weird and there is a tiny bit of pressure on that connector from the hoses. Not a problem 3 months in.

Remember, if you live in an area that only has 91, you may want to add octane booster to cover the delta should they mistakenly have dropped 87 in the station tanks.
It happens more often than you may think.

After a couple days it does not appear that I have any detonation/pinging. Nothing like you guys describe. Just the basic low rpm engine tick.

I will still buy a couple bottles of Boostane and throw in a quarter bottle to a tank and see what it does. Keep it light to save the plugs.

I uninstalled the kit, but will keep it. I already tried it on and off and definitely like engine character with PP2 better.

My theory on ping in my case - my engine initially consumed a lot of oil. Like a quart per less than 1000 miles. Then short block was replaced due to engine tick and with new short block no oil consumption anymore. I have oil catch can... But I think that my engine might have carbon deposits that increase compression. Also, I used 87 mostly, so that might contribute to deposits as well.

I uninstalled PP2, but fill in 91 and add fuel system cleaner once in a while. Plan to drive like that for a while and try PP2 again.

@Kong76 - as far as PP2 intake being "afterthought" - agree completely. Here's what I added to mine: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/power-pack-2-hot-air-intake.132973/

I have always ran 91 from Chevron or Shell since I bought the car. My oil consumption has been around a half a quart most per 5k miles. Also ran a catch can after the first 1k miles.

Idk if any of that helped but I usually don't get too lucky with these things.

The OEM throttle body looked pretty clean. I could see some shinyness inside the plenum which might be a light coat of oil residual or something.

Hope it all holds up.
