First time poster here so be nice.

I have a 2023 GT On order from my local small dealer. They only sell one or two Mustangs a year. According to the manager, they don't currently have an allocations, but he thinks they should get one to get my order built. It is a clean order verified from Ford chat soni know it's in there.

In the mean time, I've found the exact car I ordered, except it's a 22, on a dealers lot about 5 hours away. I have spoken with the dealership and they will honor my X plan pricing. I can also currently still get 2.75% financing from my credit union. Which they said will probably go up in the next few weeks.

My question is, would you buy the 22 or wait for the 23?

If your dealer doesn’t currently have an allocation and there’s a dealer that has your exact spec, I’d go with what’s currently available. There’s no difference in the 2022 and 2023 MY except price.

Whatever you do, get your “deal” in writing from that Dealer who has the 22’… because it’s been known that some Dealerships change their supposed verbal deal on potential buyers when they show up to do the deal.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first Mustang. If you have to have the last year model and you are 100% sure your dealer can get it, wait. If not grab the 22’. Just follow CJ’s guidance to make sure to get the deal you were offered. Good luck.

Go with what’s available, you could easily end up waiting a very long time or you could end up not getting it at all-

Thanks for the welcome. Having the last year model doesn't excite me. I just want to make sure I get a S550. I don't like the looks of the S650. I'm not real confident my dealer can get it and with the interest rates going up, I believe I'm going to jump on the 22. Plus that's a few more months I get to drive it 😁.

I have a buyers order from the dealer with the 22. It's not signed but have all communications through email. Hopefully it all goes smoothly. I'll keep update and pictures after it's all done.

Get the ‘22 and don’t look back. A bird in the hand…

Just use your common sense and you won’t have to worry so much about the mechanics of the deal.

Sounds like your local guy has been nice and has tried to help you best he could. Once you have your new car in hand I’d make a courtesy call to him and explain what you did and why. He’ll understand and will appreciate the gesture. Plus, you may need him for service later. Trust me; I’ve been a small town dealer.

Congratulations and welcome to the club!

BTW I’m with you on the S550 vs. S650 thing.

I actually spoke with the dealer about it yesterday. I told him why I was asking and he told me to do whatever I wanted. He said he wouldn't have any hard feelings either way. I'll definitely call after I have the car. Then we'll see how he wants to deal with it. I may just keep the order in and let them have it as stock, if that's what he wants to do.

Well as promised, here she is. 10 hours of driving to get her and get her home but boy it was a fun 5 hours back. I think I smiled the whole way. Atlas blue 300a GT with black appearance package and active exhaust. That coyote really sounds good in track mode.

Congratulations! I think you made a good decision — you’ve got the car and it is beautiful. Love that color. I grew up in WV (Lincoln County) and still get back for visits.

Well growing up in WV, you know what this car means to me because I missed the second day of buck firearm season to drive to Cincinnati Ohio and get it. Lol. Thanks. Pictures don't really do it justice.

That is a thing of beauty. Flog it like you're mad at it. You won't be sorry.
