Advertised Top Speed

I talked to the dealer Friday night, guy actually seemed to know what he was talking about, he tracks his mustangs also. He said the GTPP is limited to 155, but Car & Driver says 164.

I thought I read some place that the GTs are electronically limited via computer module to 155 MPH, but what I think C&D is saying is the car is capable of doing 164 MPH (which would be with 3.31 diff and in 5th gear) if there is limiter kicking in.

Anyone know what the real scoop is on the electronic limiter setting on the GTs?

Can the GTPP even get to 155 with a 3:73 and that tall 6th? Thinking not based on what I see here.

It would probably slowly get there when in 6th gear, but it would take a lot of road. My calculator says a GT needs about 250 RWHP to go 155 MPH, so I'd imagine the 5.0 is probably putting out at least 250 RWHP at 4800 RPM which equates to 155 MPH is 6th gear with 3.73 differential gears.

I was able to achieve a GPS-verified 155 in 5th gear with the top up. I have 3.55 gears and a manual transmission.

Not really.

There are places in the western states where speed limits are 85, the fines are not terrible and quite frankly so much highway they are not able to patrol them well. If you drive at night between grand junction colorado and green river utah there is nothing out there but straight road and no traffic, same for I-15 in Utah. I watched the Gold Rush rally guys blow by me on I-15 and I was doing about 90, they just disappeared.

No antelope or elk out there? I understand there's less traffic at night, but I've had enough close calls with animals in the dark (wait, that ain't right) to know if I'm doing any high speed runs I'm doing it in daylight.

I've seen one-ton trucks destroyed by hitting a pig at normal highway speeds, I'd hate to see what something like an elk would do to a Mustang at twice that speed.

I have a dash cam with built in gps. Where I live in Frankfurt, there is a wonderful stretch of unlimited perfectly straight 4 lane Autobahn to Darmstadt. Once my car arrives, I break it in and put my cobb tune on it I'll get you a no shit top speed run of an Ecoboost Manual with 3.31 gears.
I'm guessing 150 or so at stock power.

Now I won't tell folks to break the law but then there are organized events like the silver state classic also. http://www.silverstateclassic.com ha ha one of the straights is 14 miles long. Think my brother is running this in his Boss, maybe. I might go course work it.

There are also some tracks that you can get over 155 if your car can pull fast enough, a friend just did 147 on a local track where the front straight really isn't that long, in a McLaren that is ;)

Watch out for deer on I 15.

There are several youtube videos that show the GT PP continuing to pull in 6th gear. The acceleration is slow but it does continue to pull.
