I just took my car In and they looked over the car and sent In a claim for my bumper not sitting flush and becoming warped/having gaps. So I'll know from them what the verdict Is from ford tomorrow or early this following week. Can't wait to see what loaner they give me as the repair they said they are going to try to attempt may or may not fix the bumper, they won't know till it's off...

I also pointed out that my rear deck lid wasn't sitting flush.

I'll update on the process and my experience.

Well, at least our mustangs aren't the only cars coming out of american factories with bad fitment issues... And at least we didnt pay 100K +

Oh wow. Even a Viper has that shitty fitment.
My Toyota has perfect fitment. The mustang, not so much. There is a reason why Lexus costs 45k for a 300hp coupe.
Corvettes are the same too.

I'm in no way defending Ford for the lack of QC but I have seen panel issues on new Vettes, Challengers, Camaros, and Mercedes. It's definitely more widespread than Ford.

Car Is going In tomorrow, they ordered a whole new rear decklid, without even checking If they could just fix the adhesive an easier way.. Which means I'll probably have to re-buy the black emblem as I don't think I can salvage the previous UPR emblem.

As for the panels I have no Idea, they said It'll take roughly a whole day.

When I first got the car after a few weeks I noticed the deck lid was off slightly, before even Installing the emblems, I confirmed this with the lead sales manager and my sales rep at the dealership I bought It from along with the other warranty defects.

And I agree with you guys, It seems the cars coming out of the EU or Japan have no fitment issues, which Is ridiculous considering how strong the US car makers are right now... I've got my sights on a BMW M2 In a couple years..

They are selling a lot of US brand cars these days, and therefore are throwing them together at break neck speed on the assembly lines. They need to slow down production a bit so workers have a little more time to install panels without mis-alignments.

It seems they should've already realized this as 3-4 mustangs were In for panel fitment issues at the dealership I came too, and the reps/techs were saying that a lot of people were having Issues with doors specifically.

Just loses ford more money for all these warranty claims.. :ford:

We try. We really do. In fact Ford hired the guy in charge of panel fit away from Mercedes and asked him how the Germans do it. He told them: we would lock a cat in a car overnight and if it didn't suffocate, we knew the fit wasn't good enough. So Ford tried that but in the morning the cat was gone; it had escaped thru one of the gaps.

So like with all warranty work It seems that It always turns Into a sh*t-show.

Tried to follow up with the rep after this last weekend, couldn't contact him all of that day, finally got my case handed over to a warranty girl who said that she would call me when the part got In because they ordered a whole new deck lid with emblem assembly.

Dropped the car off two days later early In the morning after receiving a call stating that the parts were there and It was all good to go.

They took off the bumper, put In a new bracket and also replaced my deck lid with what I thought would be a new emblem, they also called me and asked If I'd like the emblem to be painted, they assured they could do It for around $60 dollars, this ended up being $58.17 so I was fine with that.

They ended up keeping my car overnight to make sure that the bumper didn't come out of place again, and that the new bracket fixed the Issue so they can confirm that car wouldn't need a new bumper, I said fine and kept the rental for another day. (Ford Expedition 2015 XLT.)

I arrived to the ford quick lane today and took a look at my car, the emblem wasn't flat black like I told them to paint It, It was GLOSS BLACK, and It was butchered literally look like someone took a f*cking screw driver to It and scratched It all up. the guy told me that It might've just been the heat and paint they don't mix well.. I didn't buy their excuses. Then he goes on to tell me they removed my old emblem (UPR Flat black.) and transferred It onto the new deck lid... I was under the Impression they were painting a new chrome one black to match my already black front emblem but no.. I guess ford reuses parts to save money who knows what a joke. Also who In the right mind paints a black emblem black, that made absolutely no sense to me and actually blew my mind and Infuriated me at the same time.

The bumper still shows multiple areas of wear due to It not sitting properly for so long (paint rubbed off etc.) and they didn't even do any touch-up work on It at all.

He also tried to pass blame along saying the warranty girl handling my case had only been there a week and that he'd mentor her Monday, POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE <

I didn't pay them the $58 and he said they'd call me on Monday and get this fixed but still, this terrible service and communication.

/Anger rant end.

Washed the car today because It was very dirty when I picked it up, and I gave them Instruction not to wash since I'm In the process of removing all the swirls and holograms etc to seal the paint In a pristine condition.

Found multiple wear/rub marks and scratches all around the trunk that were not there before I dropped the car off, especially deep long scratches inside the trunk along the plastic but more noticeable Is where you can see the paint rubbed off.. and now water Is finding It's way Into my trunk...

Oh and my driver side weather stripping Is coming off, no Idea how they managed that one...

Follow up #2

Pictures taken, all noted and submitted to ford for approval.

The list Is as follows

New bumper.
Interior trim.
Trunk trim.
Touch up wear areas where paint has been rubbed off/marred around trunk.
Remove trunk lid and re-alignment/assembly.
Re-paint / Fix emblem.

They'll call me on the verdict, to my knowledge some things have already been ordered to keep down time from my vehicle to a minimum.

My rear trunk lid is also not aligned properly but I have not had the chance to look at it yet. From the way the rear glossy plastic panel is curved, I think the trunk lid sit too low from the factory which is causing the whole paint rubbing on plastic issue.

When the trunk is closed the entire thing actually crowns, but If It Is too low or not aligned properly It started to rub paint, I didn't add the picture here but where It all closed down on the bumper Is starting to wear paint as well, I'd definitely get It checked out by the dealer of your choice as apparently It's hard for them to get the approval to paint things they said.
