Anyone else have some sort of film or layer of material behind their door handle? Whatever this is, it has become hard and a source of dirt buildup. Not sure if it is meant to stay or should have been removed.

What you have there was added by someone - previous owner or maybe Dealer installed, but is not factory applied on any S550.

That’s 3M film to protect the paint in your door handle recess from scratches, etc.

You’d be amazed how often we see trade-ins at my workplace that have dozens of nicks and scratches in that area- left behind by people who wear sharp rings on their fingers.
