You can’t open a Case number via email. You would need to call the Ford 800# and you will be assigned a Regional Rep for your area (referred to as a CSR); they will then assign your vehicle a Case number. This escalates your vehicle as priority with the Service Center. The Service Center then must supply the CSR with progress updates. The dealer told me I could keep the car until the parts came in. Does it matter if it's there or not when it comes to filling a lemon law claim? Also I was told I would only be provided a loaner for 4 days, which does me no good. Does any one know if I can start a claim with ford via email? I've called them twice, but I was told I would have to resolve it with the dealership
Again, very helpful info. I will try the 800 number again on my lunch break tomorrow. Meanwhile the bbb has assigned me a case number and asked for supplemental information. If the car doesn’t have to be at the dealership for me to pursue a lemon law claim I might go pick it up. From everything I’ve been reading over 30 days with no repair would qualify for a lemon law claim. Although I would like to have the car bought back, I would be ok with it just being fixed, so long as the repairs are done correctly ( I will be checking ) I do feel that the long block should be replaced, but I don’t believe I’m in a position to demand that or ask for itYou can’t open a Case number via email. I’ve never heard of the folks at the Ford 800# telling a Customer they can’t help and must work it out with the Dealer. If that is the response you are getting, call that number back and either wait for an operator or demand to speak to a Supervisor. Exclaim to them if they are unwilling to help you out, the power of Social Media will surely enjoy your story as a new Ford Owner....
If your car is drivable and they are telling you to take it home because the parts are not there, then you would have to take it home. If it was the other way around, like it was totally inop, then of course it has to sit there until parts come and they work on it.
Does not matter if the car is at a Service Center or in your driveway to start a Lemon Law Claim... Hkwver, as I said you must know your Home State Lemon Law and what provisions you have to abide by in order to file. Unfortunately, 4 days with no attempted repair yet (due to lack of parts) isn’t really a solid claim.
California’s lemon law says if the vehicle is out of service for more than 30 days while being repaired, but then it also says if the problems are covered by the warranty, substantially reduce the vehicle use, value, or safety to the consumer and are not caused by abuse of the vehicle. I’m sure ford will try to say that the vehicle is not out of service due to repair. I may just have to settle for the replaced short block. Either way I’ll be calling ford sometime today to start a claimHave you looked up your State’s Lemon Law / what does it say about length of repair time (calendar days, consecutive, etc) that the shop has to repair the vehicle?
I know you said you opened a BBB Autoline claim, but have you also opened a Ford Claim using the Ford 800#? Or maybe I should ask, with the BBB Autoline Claim you have opened, are they getting you in touch with a Ford CSR, or are they (BBB) just being the abitrsry between you and Ford at this time?
I don’t think you can leave the car “just because” if it’s not apart and is in driving condition. Plus I would not leave it there on their lot in the event it gets dinged or damaged (then you’re gonna be more upset, because Dealership will be off the hook for liable damages since they most likely documented it was to be picked up).
Sorry to hear about your problem. Can you post a clip of the noise it is making? Is it the tick, rattle or both? This coming Wednesday will be 30 days for me, and though my car hasn’t been at the dealer for all thirty of those days, I plan on starting the buy back process. I can only hope there is minimal push back from ford. Last night I went to my local ford dealer to test drive a 19 with an a10, and they acted like I was just trying to go for a free joy ride. Basically they were pretty douchy about the whole thing which kinda pissed me off. I was finally told that they would be receiving a base model 19 a10 car that I could test drive since it was the closest in value to my 18. It should be at the dealership with in the week. It’s magnetic metallic, which I’m not crazy about, but perhaps it will grow on me. Anyway, judging by other people’s experience I’m a ways off from getting an exchange. Just thought I’d get any early start at figuring out what the new whip will be, if I even get approved for a buy back
I hope all goes well for you. It’s both but you can only hear the rattle in the video. Also that was 10,000 miles ago. It’s much worse now
