Of people needing a new engine. The dealer told me this morning that they are going to order a new short block for my car. Kind of wanted the long block replaced, but oh well I guess. They told me I could take the car and they would call me when the parts came in, but I told them to hold on to it Incase I want to pursue a buy back

I assume it's for the incessant ticking noise?

My gosh, how many owners are really having this problem? And, is it really a serious mechanical problem, or mostly just a noisy nuisance?

Sorry to hear that you need to go through this. Was your car stock or did you have any mods?

Why wait to pursue Buy Back options? Have you started a Case so your issue is documented?

I don’t want to wait if I don’t have. I need to hear from those of you that have gone through this. I’m kind of lost on this one. I called ford, but got the cold shoulder and was told I had to try to resolve my issues with the dealer first

Not to derail this thread subject matter - but

Search my user ID with words such as “RAV” or “Buy Back” and you’ll see I’ve not only been through the process, but I’ve posted extensive details regarding the process (and what to expect). I’ve helped a few folks with the info and some folks have also posted up their experinces as well.

First thing and foremost - you must look up the Lemon Law pertaining to your State. Make sure it’s your State’s official webpage and not some “3rd party” page that may contain outdated or inaccurate info. The Lemon Law varies in every State - I’ve gone into this in my other threads so I’m not going to go to that extent here.

Ford RAV adheres to those Lemon Laws and does not deviate.

Yes it is absolutely correct that the Owner must allow Ford or it’s Service Centers to attempt a Warranty repair, regardless of how invasive it may be or how long the repair effort takes. Again to claim Lemon or Buy Back, the owner has to allow and follow certain parameters via Ford Warranty processes as well as their Home State Lemon Law provisions.

If you have started a Case with an assigned Ford CSR, be sure to document on your end and keep facts together. If they don’t follow up with you, then you have to be proactive and call or email them. Be polite and professional, but always be persistent as you are a customer who needs to be made whole.

Good luck and feel free to post in any of the multiple threads you find with that subject matter.

Great info. Thank you. I’ve been doing a bunch of reading and will continue to do more over the coming days. The dealer has only had my car for one day, so I think the idea of a buy back is a bit premature at this point, but I am preparing to go there if need be

Sure thing - any questions about posts on here feel free to ask, everyone is here to help.

Yes, 1 day is definitely too early - but trust me and others who have bought a brand new S550 and have had to go through a warranty repair - that 1 day already feels like 20 days... lol

The dealer told me I could keep the car until the parts came in. Does it matter if it's there or not when it comes to filling a lemon law claim? Also I was told I would only be provided a loaner for 4 days, which does me no good. Does any one know if I can start a claim with ford via email? I've called them twice, but I was told I would have to resolve it with the dealership
