Hi all, I have a '16 GT premium. I got it used with 70k miles. I noticed that the A/C blows hot hot air, like VERY hot. not even a tiny bit cool. My first thought was refrigerant but I'm wondering if there's a "common" or easy first thing to check for? I was thinking maybe the diverter that goes from hot to cold? or if the pump was bad it may do this?

At the same time (its obviously unrelated) but the cooled seats / seat heaters don't work either - light comes on, nothing happens. If anyone has any thoughts on the most common quick things to look for?

Thanks!!!

1.. Evaporator core. Look for a super long thread on here and start saving money for it.

2. They circulate air in the car - if it's hot, you're not going to feel anything - however - they never worked well to begin with.

thank you, from a quick search, looks like a relatively cheap part... but it looks like I need to take the dash apart, so plan a good solid day probably ehh?

If you're willing to do it on your own - about a day worth of work. Not a rocket science (later you would have to someone refill the refrigerant).

Also - while this is most common and most likely cause, I would troubleshoot to make sure it isn't anything else.

Definitely trouble shoot. Mine went out due to the dryer coming apart which plugged the condenser.

Makes sense, yea for sure. and yes I will only do it myself or I will leave it alone. I wouldn't let the dealer change floormats. I grew up working in and around shops, I would never ever let those clowns touch anything haha.

Appreciate, and I agree, good to troubleshoot. Trying to figure out ways to know like that for example... how would I know this.

thanks!

You will need a set of gauges to troubleshoot.

In my case the low side pulled a vacuum and the high side went to the cutout. Check for any codes. Mine showed high side pressure switch out of range.
I opened up the system and tried to blow air through the condenser. It was plugged. I replaced the compressor at the same time just incase.

thank you! I'll start looking into this stuff. I have a snap-on diagnostic scanner, I'll give a read and see if it says anything too

i had the same issue - hot air blowing through vents - turns out it was my compressor. was afraid they'd have have to replace the evaporator as well, dealership replaced the compress, flushed metal pieces out of the lines and all is well. do you hear the compressor engaging when you select the A/C? in my case, the compressor would engage and then shut off, and began blowing hot air. maybe consider checking the compressor?

I dont seem to hear the compressor, no. but the car's pretty loud, I should test that with the hood open and listen. Thank you, definitely worth a shot! that'd be way easier to replace that!

Refrigerant is the first thing to check for. A system leak would be second. Parts failures come after that.

If you happen to have the Ford exteneded warranty it should be covered.
Just had to dealer fix mine, was just over 2K. My cost was just the $200 deductible.
