Here is the heat exchanger going in. I will make the mounts in the next couple days. and the intercooler reservoir tank is taking the place of my battery since I moved it into the trunk. Ran the hose from the pump to the intercooler today.

Fabrication looks great as usual. What is the capacity of the intercooler reservoir tank?

Thanks, about a 1.5 gallons. Remember this is a street car ice and 1/4 mile use is not an issue. The amount of water in the tank is pretty useless if you're driving the car as the water eventually reaches a mean temperature varying from just after the intercooler to after the heat exchanger and back again.

So 1 1/4 bungs and using -10 or -12 line?

No point in the 1 1/4 bung really.

My intercooler used -16 and it's still not 1 1/4 id

What IC did you have that used -16?

You can use anything between -10 and -20. Our IC will take -20 fittings so the HE was built to match.

I'll be using -20 lines and fittings. Tests prove that the lines are the biggest restriction to flow not the intercooler or heat exchanger. Bigger lines more flow. More flow more heat is shed. If you're starting from scratch big line big fittings are the only way to go. If you're system is all done add a Lingenfelter or new Meziere pressure pump for max flow only $700.

So...what the heck is the Helmholtz resonator for anyway? Is it like the sound tube? Does the removal throw any codes?

It reduces intake noise. Which is weird because then they pipe intake noise into the interior. I guess the point it to make the car quieter on the outside a louder on the inside....duh.:frusty:

No codes engine does not see any difference just reduces clutter. Of course none of that matters anymore for with a SC going in.

Thanks Man! Few more questions if I could.

Did you just cut it off and than custom cap it?

What did you use for a cap?

Did you just leave the resonator on the bottom (for now), thats on the intake tube just past the accordian section, where the sound tube was plumbed?

I never got around to removing the one on the intake tube. The weather tuned bad so the car is on the hoist and the SC install is started. All the intake stuff is stashed in the attic. I needed to remove the sound tube in any case.

Hi 908ssp,

Is that intake adapter from Department of Boost by any chance? I've been waiting on them to finish their intake so I can put an M122 on my Coyote-swapped 1970 Mach 1.

First prototype is done now it goes to get drawn and then to the CNC shop. Hopefully I'll have a working first sample by the end of January.

That's great news! The prototype looks great too, btw. Do you know if it's going to cost the same as the current 4.6 3V kit when it's done?

It will probably be a little more. But it will still be loads less than other kits out there and make the same rwhp and that is a winner in my book.
