Most definitely. Many of these drivers have been used for many years and some of these manufacturers are used by OEM's and just rebranded. I don't know Alpine but it's possible a company like Peerless, Eminence or Tang Band makes drivers to their specifications.I was checking that site out when you mentioned it before. It certainly piqued my interest, but are these truly comparable to the higher priced popular brand name speakers? While I think I'm settling on Alpine since I've already purchased so much of it, I may consider some of these brands for friends and family looking to do the same.
The difference is you are not paying excessive markup, there is little to no marketing, etc. Car audio drivers tend to have bigger markups vs home audio too, even though it's the same driver.
The Morel mid-range I just bought retails everywhere for around $179 for a set. When Morel first introduced the driver back in 2017 it was marketed for home audio and they were $30 apiece or $60 for a set. Morel then stopped selling them as home audio drivers and rebranded them as car audio drivers and raised the price to $179 MSRP for a set.
Interesting stuff.
