I had 5w-20 full synthetic. That's what I was told.
5w-20 Syn Blend is what is spec'ed for our 2019's. Changing to 5W-30 will not help nor hurt. Changing from full to a blend and then back will hurt nothing as well.

I'm with Crew. Embrace the Tic. Or get Ceratec! :like:

I didn't hear anything unusual in those videos.

You said you did a 5w-30 swap. What oil was in it before? 5w-30 is what the factory recommends since 2020 I believe.
Actually I think it's 2021; on the 2020 it only states 5w30 if you're going to track the car, then after done racing for the day, switch back to 5w20 including the oil filter. Nuts.

They changed the spec to 5W30 as Ryan said, either late 2020 or sometime in 2021. Either way, changing from 5w20 to 5w30 isn’t going to cause any issues
Perfect thanks!

I had a tick after my first oil change on my 21. Since then I put a bottle of Ceratec in with every oil change. Haven’t had a tick since.

Well..............................The short answer is no. I do not believe anyone on here has ever had an issue with using Ceratec. Now Ceratec will change the color of your oil. If a dealer goes by the strict letter of the warranty, additives are not allowed. So it "could" be an issue if your dealer is really a dick. I do not use it but I did ask my dealer about it years ago. He said and I quote, "who gives a shit?"

I have not, I'm gonna get a stethoscope this week. Seems the noise top end has quieted down a tad bit.
I've used them starting when I drag raced and had to tune or troubleshoot engine issue IE; dead injectors, VVT solenoids, Cam phasers, rod bearings, alternators, idler pulleys, water pumps etc. Good luck.

Does someone know what Ceratec is actually doing to make the tick go away ?
So the infamous bbq tick is most often caused by piston slap, which happens when the piston inside the cylinder has excessive side-to-side movement, causing it to lightly hit the cylinder wall, creating a ticking sound, especially when the engine is cold and oil is not fully circulated.

CERATEC works by adding microscopic ceramic particles to engine oil which adhere to metal surfaces within the engine, creating a smooth protective layer that prevents direct metal-to-metal contact, thereby reducing friction and wear on engine components. Essentially, the ceramic particles fill in the tiny irregularities on the metal surfaces.

And as you probably know, mustang 5.0 do chatter/tic and most of the time it is normal, not be an issue. That's just part of the 4 overhead cam with phasers, solenodes etc as well as being a high compression engines but, we all need to verify these things at some point. Latet
