I did a 5w30 swap, haven't added ceratec yet, but my engine is making way more noise than before. It sounds like BBQ tick is worse and on cold start I have a tick coming from injector area. I'm worried as well cause tick gets worse with rev it sounds like. I really don't want it to be a spun bearing but I'll record a video soon and post it.

Engine has 13k miles. Have barely beat on it since I've owned it. Driving me nuts.

Fully synthetic or blend? I notice right after an oil change mine will tick a little louder (or at least it sounds a little louder) but after that first start it is fairly normal. I do full synthetic Motorcraft

I used synthetic blend motorcraft. I'll take video later and post it.

It’s been determined over the past 10+ years that these engines tick. It’s inherent in the engine and the oil used means nothing. The volume of the tick can increase and decrease due to a number of factors but nothing is a given. Nothing’s been proven. Do yourself a favor. If it bothers you, Ceratec. It’s proven to reduce the level of the tick. Put it in and drive away happy.

The video will be helpful when you get it. Volume isn’t necessarily an indication that something is wrong but if the ticking sounds different than the normal typewriter sound, then there may be something else going on. If you have the Gen 3 coyote (2018+), it’s also got direct injection which adds more noise to an already noisy engine. So take that into account as well if you’ve got a 2018+ car.

OP, also saw you mentioned in another thread that you’ve had a bunch of problems since you got the car. What are some of the issues you’ve had? That might help paint a better picture too

Well bought the car in February last year with 3k miles. Previous owner barely drove it. I drove it all summer with no issues besides late summer when my timing chain tensioner started to fail like the tsb that's out there. I got that fixed in December. Now last month I noticed it was acting a bit strange with fuel and such so I bought a new hpfp to fix the issues of the last one. Although new one is iffy but I found out I didn't oil the new one properly so gonna fix that soon. Now just yesterday i did a oil swap to 5w30 and now I'm at where we are.

The bbq tick is always louder and more noticeable on a fresh oil change. Drive it and it'll slowly go away

The tick I heard before is gone. I bought some ceratec should be in tomorrow we will see. Thanks guys. I know I'm a bit paranoid just my 2v isn't this problematic.

Sounds like the normal tick to me. As someone else mentioned, it can sometimes be louder right after an oil change.

Compared a 2V, yeah these are noisy motors. I didn’t hear anything that sounded out of the norm though.

Haha yeah it takes a little getting used to. They’ve ticked since the gen 1 came out, just seemed to get more attention when the gen 3 came around for whatever reason.
