It's just a crate combo, and not emissions legal.

However, Ford doesn't do stuff on accident. My guess is some combo of this is coming, but rated much lower. 500 HP, 420 TQ sounds good...with a 10 speed auto!
I'm going to take a gander that the spec would have fewer ponies and more torque to keep a solid differentiation between the revised voodoo and the GT 5.2. I would expect something closer to 485hp/440lbft for the GT and 575/450 for the GT350, with the lion's share of the gains coming from the application of direct injection, and obviously added displacement and airflow for the GT from the bore increase.

Bet that's what you're seeing rolling around in the "gt500" prototype.

Did you see the caption below on the motor details list. Tests done with 101 octane gas and longtube headers. Take that away and your down 50hp!!!

At least. That realization leads me to a question. Why doesn'the ford offer a sport exhaust system with longtube headers? Do they interfere with the cats? I would have paid an extra $2500 for such an option if the power gains were comparable to aftermarket and it fell under warranty. Obviously it would make sense to include a cold air intake as well, and perhaps even an intake upgrade, but I think many enthusiasts would be willing to throw down an extra $4k for that. Does anyone know?

I would be happy with 530hp and more lb ft down low.

Looks like a trade up in the future,2018 would be about right.

I'm not a motor guru at all but would it be fair to say the lt1 is now using the variable cam wizardry that helped the 5.0 be competitive with the ls3's larger displacement? I don't know how the pushrod vs dohc characteristic make this different but it seems to me m 5.0 liters isn't enough

Maybe not so much. Kinda sounds like what GM did with the Camaro, and we've seen how those sales are going.

The camaro benefits from direct injection which the coyote has yet to use!

Would seriously have to consider trading up for this if it came out in the refresh.

DI is coming for 2018 folks, that will see both MPG and power gains. That will also make the Coyote EcoBoost capable.
