I had the FRPP Sport Catback and there was zero rasp. It sounded nice even at WOT but I really wanted to add cat deletes for the performance gains and ability to use e85 (I know, I know you can use it with some headers by repositioning the o2 sensor but I didn't want to deal with all that). I was going to add catless headers but being in CA, the ability to very easily and quickly reinstall the stock cats for fix-it tickets and smog checks was a huge bonus so I went with the MAK cat deletes. Once I installed the MAK cat deletes with my FRPP catback, the rasp was horrible. Not to mention my car was insanely loud at that point. I love loud cars but it was too much for even me. So, I've now purchased a Borla Resonator that I'm hoping will help solve the rasp problem and quiet the system down just enough. I had a long talk with a gentleman on the S550 Facebook page (not sure if he's here on the forum) and decided the Borla Resonator would be the best course of action since it would easily bolt into my FRPP catback exhaust (taking the place of my x-pipe).

He put together this video of the various exhaust systems he's had which is what swayed me. Check out how much rasp there is in the first set up and it seems to get progressively better as he alters his system throughout the video.

I recently put on a Lethal H-Pipe to replace the factory resonator (everything else is stock) and I love how it sounds. It basically amplified the stock tone. No drone at all. A little loud on cold startup but then quiets to a deep rumble. Gives you some extra noise when you get on it but other than that it's basically got the stock manners. No complaints. Def how Ford should've built the car in the first place.

All that being said, I am somewhat interested in the Solo exhaust. I have no experience with it firsthand but it sounds like there are a lot of options for "tuning" the sound you want. They have different resonator inserts you can try and this adjustable J-pipe thing at the mufflers that lets you change the tone. At this point, I'm not sure I need it any louder but I may look into this eventually.

i never had rasp problems until I went with long tubes. they were catless just so you know. I started with sp headers mated to borla atak. it sounded great but raspy and stupid loud. I don't mind loud so long as it's clean. then I tried sp headers with sw catback. deep but droned bad in cabin. so then I tried borla s type, again catless. that was my least favorite. I pulled them off after 100 miles.

then I sold everything an swapped to arh catless headers and corsa sport. it was similar to s type. sounded great wot but at 3k shifting it was embarrassing. all these systems sound great with stock headers and cats. so I am coming to the conclusion that to kill rasp, get hi flow cats. I now have full arh system header back, since I already have arh headers now- which I recommend, system will be the catted h pipe lead pipes back. once it gets delivered I hope to high heavens I will like it. I think I will.

at the end of the day, I ran into rasp problems when I did catless headers. my advice is to get catted headers instead. I will hopefully confirm this this weekend. I have had this arh ordered for a week and a half now direct from arh. it's really pissing me off its taking so long.

I had both MBRP exhausts. Even had additional mufflers installed in the Race exhaust to try to get rid of the drone. The street was soo Raspy I took it off immediately. I now have the SOLO Mach exhaust. Has a great sound. Don't know how it's so deep with an X pipe muffler but it is. I would check out the Solo exhaust options. Great bang for the buck. One of the nice things about having the X muffler up front is that it leaves a lot of pipe area to add additional mufflers later if you find it too loud with Headers. This is probably what I'll do.

how ya'll flip flop on 600-1200+ exhaust systems is beyond me.
Well you don't throw them away. I resold mine and made most of my money back so it's not a total loss. Luckily I got a rebate from MBRP and a sweet price from beefcake so when I sold them I was probably out $250 not including the extra mufflers I put on the race. It's hard to find the right sound sometimes.
