Mine is a daily driver. I like to really blast some music from time to time. Worth it just for the sound system -- aftermarket subs would take up too much trunk space and they always tend to rattle in their mounts.
But wouldn't the car have the unused mounting locations for the sub present in the trunk if you don't opt for the Shaker audio system? Like when you don't opt for something in the dash and theres a blank piece of plastic sitting there to remind you where the switch would be. Seems like a ripe opportunity for a car audio company to release a perfect drop in sub for that location. Would probably sound better and be a lot cheaper than the package that the Shaker Pro system is unfortunately bundled in.

Is this correct thinking or am I off base?

IMO not worth-it... I'm going to a add quality aftermarket subs/amp to my 400A package for a fraction of the cost. I'm sure I'll go with 2 10's or 12's w/ a slim pro-box to conserve some trunk space for traveling. I'm a music head and would probably be unamused by the shaker pro...

I think it's worth every penny... I always tend to get the premium sound systems for one sounds better....did that with my f150...Actually, all my cars. Loving the sound at least when stuck in traffic...everything else in the 401a pkg is worthwhile too especially for those who don't give a damn about reverse sensing...everyone has their own twisted opinions

Do you know what the difference is between head units? Does the 401A have a better head unit?

BLIS/CTA should not have been in 401A, it should have been a stand alone option or part of the Reverse Sensing Package.

As for the settings, some use one of them for getting into the back easily while dealing with kids then hitting the other setting to get back in the car.

To me, the HD radio is pointless and the memory seats/shaker are not worth it. The package is way too much.
That is exactly my plan for the memory seats... One for me, one for my wife (on the rare occasion that she drives it), and one for getting the kids in and out of the back seat.

Not sure if 401A has a better head unit. I'm betting it's the Same MFT as 400A just has 12 speaker Shaker Pro setup vs 9 speakers with 400A?

If it has to push more speakers, than it has to have more power..

But, none of that matters..

It is all about potential. If you don't get the shaker system, you have less upgrade potential. More work to do to add more speakers, than just upgrade them (Morels/BA/INfinity), etc.

And.. you won't be able to add memory seats.. which if you ever have used them, are hard to live without. 1 BUTTOn can take your seats and mirror to the exact position you love for freeway driving, or 2nd for more upright position in town, etc..

If you have no need for these things, ok...
But, seems many here are trying to piece-meal their decision based on assumptions. How do we know the sound system sucks..?

First of all, these aren't like traditional cheap head units that you go buy from your local electronics store. There are separate amps throughout the car to drive the speakers. The 12-speaker system comes with additional amps to drive the extra speakers.

Additionally, some may very legitimately argue that having the base radio in the V6 (6-speaker system) would be preferred if they wanted to perform aftermarket upgrades. Work around the factory amps and DSP's is not always easy, especially on a new model. There WILL be blown PCM's from screwing with them, I guarantee it. It happened on my 2013 with changes from the 2012 MY. I had my car sitting at the dealership for exactly 30 days while waiting for them to approve the replacement, due to a Best Buy installer screwing up a basic amp/subwoofer install.

Well my wife will drive it sometimes so the mem seats are nice to have. And when she does drive my cars she seems to always hit something (not hard) so the blind spot will be handy along with the reverse sensors.:shrug::headbang:

There are amps to do that for the power. It's the same head unit as the 401. The A just gives you more speakers and amps.

There have been reviews on it. Many have said they don't think the Shaker is worth it unless you like muffled heavy bass.

To be fair the old Shaker 500/1000 that applied to but the Pro system introduced a in 2013 remedied any muddiness per CNETs review. Their only complaint was the mids weren't as crisp. Seeing what they did with the new Pro 12 Speaker looks like it will remedy that minor flaw especially finally not using paper cones...so no the latest reviews are positive for 2013. I think people are making a mistake turn their nose up at the new Shaker Pro system.

I feel bad for those ready to pull panels and run wires and change speakers that's a quick route to rattling panels.

Quote from CNET for the 2013 Shaker Pro 9 Speaker system.

" The Mustang GT's real tech showpiece is its Shaker audio system. In CNET's car, that system was upgraded to Shaker Pro, which not only includes two subs in the doors, but another subwoofer in the trunk, making a total of nine speakers. Powered by a 550-watt amp, this system was able to get very loud and output impressive bass. I liked how the system's sound was barely distorted at high volume, and the looks on pedestrians' faces as I rolled by, giving them the thumpety-thump treatment.

However, the system's midrange sounded hollow. All that wattage did not translate into rich vocals or audio in higher frequencies. It was certainly clean-sounding, but I did not derive the same amount of enjoyment from music as I would have from a system with better midrange speakers."

Is auto start an option for automatics or standard? I was looking at my window sticker which is 401A equipped and didn't notice it on there.

Lately I've been thinking of backing out of 401A since I'm getting Recaros. $1600 is a lot of change to get the upgraded Shaker system. Any thoughts?

Just be aware you are also losing memory seats and BLIS (blind spot monitoring). It is unlisted on the window sticker but those options are apart of 401a on top of the shaker pro.
