It appears that more than a few prefer the pure rawness of the 350R over the GT500 CFTP for track (roadcourse) cars.

I had the opportunity to have either to own, but not both, and certainly feel I made the right choice with the 350R.

While the CFTP does definitely demand respect, it is nice having a stick and the lower weight. Both are absolutely phenomenal rides but I have to agree with Speed Phenom and this guy, the 350R is more appealing.

I would like to sit in and drive a CFTP GT500. But I am quite happy with my GT350R.

Now, would I own both? I would probably go for a base model GT500 and keep my R

And I think gas and tire use is going to be significantly higher on the gt500. Not that the R is a gas sipper, but adding a supercharger is gonna drink a lot more gas. I already haul four 5 gallon jugs on top of arriving with a full tank to get through five 25 min sessions in my R.

more importantly, as much as I love my R, it doesn’t look like Ford improved the build quality with the 500. For similar money, I’ll be getting a 2022 c8 z06 to add instead of a gt500, particularly the way Ford has handled the various issues my R has had. Might go GT3 RS if the vette is taking too long.

I admit I was curious about the 2020 GT500 but I can't give up my R for one and I can't own both. The C8 Z06 will have my attention if it comes with a FPC but no 3rd pedal is still a knock.

If you like to shift yourself, the GT350R is the ultimate Stang. If you don't mind the DCT, the GT500 is King.

Sold my CFTP and purchased an R (for the second time).
I’m certain the 500 can accomplish most everything the 350R can on track and with faster lap times. The 500 will cost a lot more to operate on track, no big surprise there.
It’s all very subjective but the thing that pulled me back to the R is that it’s just fun to drive while NOT at the limit. I could see how, for me, the 500 was going to be boring on the street after the novelty of a 10 sec street car wore off. It was very easy to drive fast, similar to my modded RS3 and a hell of a machine but just not for me.

Can you clarify, King of what? I just watched an Edmunds.com video showcasing how the BMW M8 competition toasted the 500 at the drag strip. The 500 barely bested the M on the 40mph roll-on. So, it didn’t King that matchup.

It apparently is also the king of consumables. But, I digress.

I sold my base GT500 to purchase a 350R and have zero regrets doing it. If I had it to do it all over again I would’ve got the 350R to start with. Completely agree with what you said about the 500 being boring on the street at times I felt the same and to really stretch it’s capabilities I would be in jail.

Well there you go. Right from the man who developed both cars.
