I posted this in the Shelby forum and did not get much traction (no pun intended). Hopefully I'll get more feedback from track drivers in this forum.

After multiple track sessions this summer, my OEM Cup 2s are cooked and time to replace the tires. Curious if other R owners have tried different rubber than the Michelin Cup 2s, and if so, would you mind sharing your experiences. Also, anyone running 325s in the rear as opposed to the 315s? If so, how do you feel that impacted the driveability and handling of the car - on the road but more importantly on the track?

One member mentioned the Falken Azenis RT660 and said he had good track experiences with this tire.

I finally ordered my spare set of rims for the R (Project 6GR have been back ordered for a while), and they are in transit. So I will be putting those on the R for a while, as I am sending the front CF rims off to get the inner barrel ceramic coating repaired. I might try different rubber on the spare rims and put new Cup 2s on the CF rims... a little research and comparison project per se.

Thanks for the input gents.

If you are looking for a track capable tire that will last, look no further than the Hankook RS4 or a lot of people have great results from the Goodyear Super Car 3 and/or 3R.

Cup 2's are fast but seriously, ditch them.

Supercar 3R is the fastest street legal tire out there but don't last very long (maybe less than the cup 2's). They are also about $200 cheaper per tire than Cup 2's.

Yoko A052 is extremely fast as well but only available in 18"

The tires @strengthrehab mentioned are amazing but are not as fast as cup 2's but do in fact last longer.

RT660 is not quite as fast as Cup 2, 3R, A052 but the price makes up for the loss in speed.

If you're chasing lap times, try out slicks. If you want something that'll last longer, definitely RS4, Supercar 3, or the tried and true NT01. If you want the same performance as Cup 2's or better but for much cheaper = 3R

another vote for 3r i used to run cup2
Looks like the Goodyear F1 Supercar 3R tires do not come in a 315/19, but they are available in a 325/19. Pretty much the same size OD as the OEM Sport Cup 2s at 315/30s (difference of 0.2 inches).

Is that what you guys are running in the rears with the Goodyear F1 Supercar 3Rs?

Thanks, Steve

Here is 315 cup 2 next to 305 3r, I run a 305 square setup, but my buddy runs a 325 square setup on his 350r. The cup2 are on the left fyi.

Interesting pic; thanks for sharing. I am surprised that the 305 3rs appear to be wider than the 315 Cup 2s. Am I seeing that correctly, or, is that an illusion from the camera angel?

I am going to look into the Goodyear 3Rs. I'll likely run 305 fronts and 325 rears; gonna try these on the new spare rims first.

The 305 3R is wider than the 315 Cup 2. Confusing, I know. It is what it is though.

The typical setup is 305 square on rotatable 11" wheels with spacers up front.

Got it; I likely won't run that set up, as my spare fronts are 19x11 and rears are 19x11.5 (same spec as OEM; Project 6GR FIVEs). So I will likely go with the 3Rs at 305 front and 325 rear, since they do not make a 315/19 tire. I am excited to try out the Goodyear 3Rs; read a lot of great reviews on the tire and guys seem to love them for the track.

Or, does one need a spacer to run the 3Rs with 305s up front on the GT350R? Or, is the spacer only necessary for gents running those tires up front on Mustang GTs? I would think the spacers would not be necessary on the 350R on the front, since the body / wheel wells are wider - correct?

The spacer is not car specific but wheel offset specific. If your front wheel is in the +25 offset range, no spacer required.
People who run rotatable wheels get wheels in the +50 range so it's a perfect fit in the rear and put a 25mm spacer on the front for an effective offset of +25 so any wheel can be placed on the front or the rear

yes front offset is 24 mm, same as OEM spec for the 350R front CF rims I believe.
