Probably was the 3.55 axle, but you have a slightly quicker V-6! I wish my car had that 3.55... But I have realized that our V-6s have been a good choice for our convertibles. Bullet-proof, simple, and long-lived engines with not all the falderal. Besides, how often do you want to drive at 80MPH with the top down? Older dudes, such as myself, drive slower topless not because we are scared... But because there is much less "hair loss" at slower speeds. LOL.

I'm averaging 19.2 combined although I took a 4 hour trip recently. My mpg for that trip didn't go past 25mpg which was a little disappointing but I'm assuming that the 3.55 axle had something to do with it
I agree, I have the Standard Stock 3:15 Axle coupled with the A/T in my 2015 Mustang Convertible and average fuel economy is (mediocre) at best. True, stop and go City and Highway driving here in SO FL makes achieving EPA Fuel Economy estimates near impossible but having enjoyed the past 2 years driving my 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid that gets a constant 38-40 MPG both City & Highway regardless of traffic conditions has made the drastically higher Mustang gas consumption all the more noticeable. Still love my "Vert" but for long Trips or heavy Daily Driving, the C-Max gets the call. Neighbor has similar S550 Mustang Convertible with EB 2.3 I4 and his Fuel Economy is almost identical and he`s using Premium Grade gasoline as well. Like they say, "It is what it is", just enjoy the ride!

Recently drove 80 miles on the highway and averaged 34mpg. That's literally double the city mpg I get. Too bad my daily commute has no highway at all. Seems like the 3.15 axle is amazing for efficient highway cruising.

To achieve 34 mpg, you must have been driving between 50 and 55 MPH and had (no) head wind and possibly a great tail wind producing those amazing numbers. Certainly not typical and I have the same 3:15 axle and my Vehicle is "broken in" with 3K driven to date. Congratulations!

I get 24-25 mpg on highway with 3.55 driving 65-70mph, V6 should be significantly better...

I get 30mpg going 60 with 3.55. Never do that though and usually get 27-28 going 70s.

If you drive (under) 75 MPH either on I95 or the Florida Turnpike down here is SO FL you`ll be literally pushed off the road! 60 MPH? Better stay on either Route #1 or Route#5 or SR 7/441. True, no one including the Police and Sheriffs Department use their directional light signals (but) aggressive driving and "tail gating" is the norm. Red Light running has abated a bit due to Red Light Camera installations but they are quickly being eliminated since they didn`t produce their expected cash revenue as well as Court decisions ruling them unenforceable. As long as regular gas remains at or below the $3.00 range, no problem. If and when it bounces back to $4.00 or $5.00 @ Gal. thats another story.

Pretty much all highway miles and I never manage to get over 26.5 MPG.

Sounds like your pretty much in the Ball Park, plus or minus a mile or two per gallon. Poster claiming 34 MPG Highway was certainly the exception!

Except for the price difference, fuel economy between all (3) Engine choices are pretty much the same in "real-time" driving conditions. EPA "DYNO" MPG numbers usually don`t meet expectations in daily driving. I can`t complain because the Vehicle I traded in for my 2015 Mustang Base V6 Convertible was a 2012 Kia Rio5 Hatchback with a 1.6 ltr. 4 Cyl engine with 6-speed A/T and it only got 23 MPG City and barely over 30 MPG Highway. For a B-Segment Sub-Compact Class Vehicle, that was "ridiculous"!

Bet you didn't hardily admit to owning the Rio before, but now you have a sense of pride in your Mustang. Or should I say, I'll bet very few people questioned or mentioned your Rio. Driving a Mustang has a certain amount of automotive panache attached. And like "Love"... You never forget your "First"! I am very pleased with my 25 MPG also.

For a Daily Driver and strict (utility), the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio bring excellent value and the best Warrantee in the Industry. 5 Years Bumper to Bumper and 60K with an additional 10 Year/100K Power Train Warrantee. For 15K, cheap reliable transportation. Drive it 3 years and get $8600 as a Trade, can`t complain whatsoever. Now, with my 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid for my "Utility" SUV and my 2015 Mustang Convertible parked in my garage, I have a vehicle to fit all my needs and desires, lol.

21 mpg over my first 1300 kilometres. No hyper-miling here, lots of spirited driving in town, mixed with highway.
