They wouldn't have built the heritage edition in other than the last year. On a side note, I really like what the heritage edition stands for, I just wish they made it something truly special (ie- more HP, less weight, etc). Instead, it is just a name with different paint. Remember the HEP crowd over in the 350 section? Here we go again....

Sorry, but the heritage 500 sealed the deal for 22 being the last S550 500.

As far as I know the plant is full tilt towards S650 conversion.

I expect this to be even worse due to the lack of racing pedigree.

They arenā€™t even going to announce the S650 Mustang until at least April 2023. Production is over a year from now.
So the current S550 will be built for another 12-15 months.

Ford is probably missing an opportunity here with the Z06 coming in much higher than anticipated at a starting $106K and getting well north of there for the Z07 package. I am on a number of forums/groups where the MSRP and expected insane Z06 ADMs are making a lot of people jump ship. I would do one more year of GT500 to close out S550 and try to ramp up production to get more out at MSRP.

Two completely different cars. The Corvette and Mustang are different animalsā€¦.always have been. Their sales have never been compared to each other in any reasonable sense.
Ford doesnā€™t care what the Vette is doing.

I somewhat see your point but until/if Ford reboots the thunderbird as a mid-engine corvette competitor (which they should IMHO), I think the GT500 could be seen as a value to the insanely marked up Z06. When they both launched, there were certainly enough magazine comparisons that lumped them together.

I wonder what happened to all the MSRP cheerleaders who were insistent that the base Z06 would be below 90k and that there would be offerings at msrp. A brutal dose of reality is now hitting them.

While that may be true on timeframe, all I can tell you is change over to S650 is starting now. That may be a 12mo. process but is happening.

Not going to happen. People canā€™t comprehend Ford DOES NOT want to make GT500s period.

That is incorrect. They can make money elsewhere and donā€™t want to piss with Mustangs at all.

Not sure if it is true or not but the business news reports that Ford is losing it's shirt on the EV's.

Yea, with the current top management they don't like any ICE car or truck.
